🐾 OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FROM DCS FELINE FIXERS

Temporary Adoption Restrictions for Black Cats
Effective October 15 – October 31, 2026

At DCS Feline Fixers, the safety and well-being of every cat in our care remain our highest priorities.

As a precautionary measure during the Halloween season, we will temporarily suspend the finalization of adoptions and the release of cats whose coats are 50% or more black, beginning October 15 through October 31, 2026.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ADOPTERS?

During this period:

Cats will remain available for viewing.

Adoption applications will continue to be accepted and reviewed.

Meet-and-greet appointments may still be scheduled.

Approved cats may begin going home to their new adoptive families starting November 1, 2026.

EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY

Limited exceptions may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Charlene or Debbie reserves the authority to approve an earlier adoption and release when they have sufficient knowledge of the prospective adopter and are confident the cat will be placed in a safe, responsible, and loving home.

Exceptions are not guaranteed and will be granted solely at the discretion of Charlene or Debbie, with the cat's safety remaining the highest priority.

We understand this temporary policy may cause some inconvenience, and we sincerely appreciate your patience and understanding.

Our mission remains unchanged: to ensure every cat in our care finds a safe, loving, and permanent home.

On August 15th we received a call about a litter of 5 kittens that were approx 8-10 days old dumped in a parking lot near Jimmy John’s. They were in a pothole and at that time it was dumping inches of rain every hour. Luckily they were found before they all drowned. Thankfully, there are still a few good people out there and they were saved. These babies had already been struck by flies and I wasn’t sure we could save them. After bathing, capstar for the maggots and a bottle I believe they felt much better. A week or so later we took in a little black Kitten about 4 weeks old that we believe had been thrown or fell from a vehicle. He had an injured back leg, but he was a determined. He has become the little caretaker of the “Kitten Inn”. This is just one of the many things that happen on a daily basis when you are in rescue. There are so many things that happen that nobody knows about but we just continue to handle the situations and keep on moving. Debbie and I have a hard time saying no, but we have had to turn away several lately. We are overwhelmed most of the time, exhausted all the time, but we keep moving forward. We don’t like begging, however we feel like we do it a lot. We also put our own money into this mission as well. We will continue to carry on as long as we possibly can. We appreciate our support system! You always pull us through when we are about to throw our hands up.
To those that think it’s OK to abandon these babies whenever and wherever, SHAME ON YOU!! I’m sure the mama to these babies is already pregnant with her next litter. People please spay and neuter your cats.
Now we have to come up with some names. If you have any ideas, please drop them in the comments. 🐾❤️🐾
