We are so deeply saddened to let you know that a dear member of our Terrell Mill family, Dede Cargle, has lost her hard-fought battle with cancer. Dede was one of the hospital's first employees - she worked at TMAH for 31 years - most recently as our kennel manager.
Dede had more compassion than this world could contain...her genuine love for all creatures was unmatched. She was undoubtedly welcomed to heaven by a deafening chorus of happy barks, meows, chirps, hisses, and squeaks.
We love you Dede and our hearts ache to say goodbye.

Heads up crew! It is high season for fleas. In the past 2 days, I have seen over 9 cases of fleas (most patients have presented for "itching/scratching"). Several of those cases have been in pets that are currently using flea control...notably topical products (ie. on the skin, down the back products).
In the southeast US, we are encountering an issue with resistance in the flea population to many of the topical products, especially those that have been on the market for a long time and are sold over the counter. The newer oral products have been significantly more effective.
It is important to treat ALL cats and dogs in the household to successfully eliminate a flea population. Let us know how we can help!

I had the honor of knowing several of the search and rescue dogs who served at the Pentagon on 9/11 - never forget...

A heroic dog is heading back to the site where she earned her superpup status. Bretagne the golden retriever is the last surviving rescue dog who searched Ground Zero after the 9/11 terrorist attacks.
