Carbonate Hardness

KH measures the amount of carbonates and bicarbonates in water, which affects the buffering capacity of the water. This means that KH helps neutralize acids and prevents your pH from changing too rapidly. Low KH means your water has less buffering capacity allowing the ph to fluctuate rapidly. Higher KH means your water has more buffering capacity and the pH level is more stable.
Parameters for axolotls: 3 - 8

General hardness

GH measures the amount of calcium and magnesium ions in the water (how hard or soft your water is)

Petco has tank sales!!

20 long is the minium for one axolotl! 40 breeder can house two (Ideal) or possibly 3 with excellent maintenance. I love the 60 gallon breeder tank!

Reminder, If you are temporary tubbing your axolotl. You will need 100% daily or twice daily water changes using Prime!! If your tank is not fully cycled, you will need to tub your axolotl. Once tank is cycled and axolotl ready, you will need to do 50% weekly water changes (using prime). Cycling your tank will require adding ammonia and frequently testing using the Api master fresh water test kit. This process usually takes 4 to 12 weeks BEFORE your axolotl can go into the tank. If you are tubbing your axolotl. You will need to do 100% once or twice daily water changes on your temporary tub. A tank can take several weeks to cycle before your axolotl can go in. We have care information available, if you are interested in purchasing an axolotl.
