***ANNOUNCEMENT***
After two and a half years and over 100 lives saved, Valley Stray Rescue is officially closing its doors for good. Thank you to all of those who have adopted from us and given our babies a chance at having a good life. Thank you to all that have donated supplies, food or made monitory contributions, and to all of those who have fostered or otherwise given their time and effort towards our cause. None of this could have been accomplished without you.

All former clients can still reach to us for questions or assistance by emailing [email protected] Our phone number and page will be deactivated.

As a tribute to each one, below is a list of “rescue names” for each dog, cat, tortoise and bird saved since our inception. May they live long and happy lives.

WE DID IT! Roscoe has been adopted!! And if this is not the perfect match I don't know what is. He took to them the minute they walked in the door. We are so excited for them all. Congratulations!

If you think re-homing or surrendering your dog is an option simply because it is no longer convenient for you to keep them, think again.

Not to sound redundant or anything...

I get emails and messages everyday from people trying to surrender their pets. While we are at capacity, we can rarely take an owner surrender or strays. I feel like if we have room, we need to help dogs that are most at risk. That's why we try to pull the dogs in danger of euthanasia in shelters.
Trying to surrender the dog you got from a shelter is not rescuing the dog. Threatening to take the dog to the shelter or worse, does nothing for your case. That's between you and your conscience. I won't do hostage negotiations.
While I understand there are situations where someone must surrender their dog, I feel like those cases make up less than half of our requests. The rest are, trying to make their problem, everyone else's problem.
What you need to understand, there's a good chance that your dog does not want to live here. Most of the dogs that we take in have never lived indoors, had regular meals, and/or vetting. What attention they have gotten has usually been a kick or worse. To those dogs, this is heaven.
Your dog wants nothing more than to have a relationship and home with you. It doesn't want to live here with 4 dozen other dogs. It doesn't want to have to push its way through a crowd for attention, or share space with a pack just like them.
I encourage anyone that's thinking about adopting a Hound, do your homework. If you find a hound, can't find its owner, and decide to keep it, get it fixed! Most of all, please, before you decide to rehome your dog, think about what is exactly the problem. Is it the dog, or is it you? It's much easier to train a dog, than it is a human.

EVERYONE needs to listen to every word she says. Ignorance is not bliss. Be a responsible pet owner or don’t be one at all.

This is ROSCOE! Roscoe is a sweet and gentle soul who wants nothing more than to be loved and feel part of his own family. Roscoe is a mix of many breeds and is estimated to be approx. two years old. He currently weighs 74 Lbs. and is not expected to get any bigger. Roscoe is great with children and welcoming to everybody he meets. He is very smart, well-behaved, and doing great with his obedience training. He is fully potty trained, rides great in vehicles and is good on a leash. Roscoe considers himself to be an Alpha-Dog so introductions to other Alpha-Dogs should be supervised at first, but he is playful and nurturing with all other dogs. Roscoe is healthy, strong, and active. He would make the perfect sidekick, hiking buddy or couch cuddler for just about anyone.

Roscoe is neutered, microchipped, dewormed and is fully vaccinated. His adoption fee is $200. If interested in meeting Roscoe, please email [email protected] to get an application and make an appointment to meet him. We are located in the rural area west of the City of Maricopa.

STOP asking me to rehome your dogs. Suck it up, make it work, change your plans, honor your commitment. It is not their fault that you failed to plan ahead. Do better!

Duchess' (now Artemis) new dad reports that she is doing great and really enjoys her daily games of fetch so much that she actually gets tuckered out at some point and naps at his feet. Thank goodness for these adopters who literally saved this beautiful girls life. You have my respect!
