Good morning, everyone! Thank you for all the "likes" of our farm page! We appreciate all of the support. I wanted to provide you all with some information on the cattle that we have and the quality of meat.
We have Red Roll and Hereford cattle on our farm. We have no cattle with horns. Most of the meats are going to be a cross of Hereford/Red Poll or Red Poll individually. We will have no meat that is strictly Hereford at this time, being as we only have a Hereford heifer.
Red Poll:
Red Poll cattle are renowned for producing juicy, tender, and full-flavored beef. Well-marbled Red Poll meat contributes to taste and tenderness. And a relatively high ratio of lean meat to bone in Red Poll cattle produces more salable meat.
Red Polls have much to offer the consumer. They perform well both as purebreds and crossbreeds. And they offer the consumer healthy and flavorful traditional-style beef.
Red Poll beef is moderately marbled and low in undesirable cholesterol. It is considered exceptional for taste and tenderness in a variety of testing situations. The carcass is not wasteful small bones and no excess fat making it both economical and healthy for the consumer.
Hereford:
Its meat quality is very good, rivaling that of Angus, another "British Breed", known for 'marbling' (intramuscular fat).
Breeds of cattle are all variants of the Bos ta**us species in the same way a German Shepherd is different from a Labrador Retriever, but still a dog.
Herefords are more efficient then most breeds at converting pasture to prime beef, and this quality along with hardiness is the principal reason they are often cross-bred with other breeds.
All of our cattle are grass fed and no hormones are used. If you've seen the cattle we have, you know they're beautiful and well cared for.
If you ever have any questions, please message us and we will be glad to help you! Thank you all!
