Anyone know what intestinal parasite this is? This little bo**er causes a lot of diarrhea and is really hard to prove. It is one of the few intermittent shedding intestinal parasites. Basically, this means that you can have negative fecal’s but they still have the parasite because they don’t shed all the time. It tends to cause very light colored diarrhea that can have blood in it. It’s easily treated, but it’s one of the few parasites we have to treat for up to 14 days to properly get. Both dogs an cats can get it, any guesses?

We truly have THE BEST STAFF! Dr. Lewis sent out a simple message on Sunday that he was headed up to Western North Carolina if anyone had anything they would like to send for those affected by Hurricane Helene.

Our team in less than 48 hours gathered over 500 bottles of water and well over 250-300 pounds of food, personal items and pet supplies that Dr. Lewis will begin delivering to small towns in Western North Carolina tomorrow.

Our team always gives 100% to both our patients and community. We are super thankful for each of them.

In anticipation of the effects of Hurricane Helene, all Wayside Animal Hospital locations will be closed Friday, September 27, 2024.
We will evaluate conditions on Friday for locations that are regularly open on Saturday.
