CONGRATS TO OUR MARCH PET OF THE MONTH: FLAMINGO 🦩🦩🦩

Little Flamingo recently underwent a forelimb amputation after the bone plate placed in her leg to fix a previous fracture began bending and failing to the point of breaking. While it was a difficult decision, our team along with Flamingos amazing vet team back home decided amputation would give her the best quality of life. And guess what??? It did!! Flamingo made it through the procedure with flying colors and is doing fabulous on three legs!! Go Flamingo! She really is a testament to the fact that dogs were created with three legs and a spare 🥰 Enjoy that well earned BarkBox sweet girl! 💕

Santa came and visited with all the good doggies and kitties of the Keys last Wednesday!! ❤️💚🎅🐶🐱

Thanks to everyone who came out to the 2024 edition of Keys Animal Hospital’s Pet Photos with Santa! We had over 100 animal attendees and the photos are absolutely amazing! 😍

A huge shout out also goes out to our staff, the animal charity attendees, and of course Santa himself for working so hard and helping to bring the Christmas spirit to our island!

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR NOVEMBER PET OF THE MONTH: KORAL 🧡🦃🏆

Koral recently decided to have a pre-Thanksgiving meal of mulch and palm fronds 😋 And all was good until they became impacted in her colon 😱 but with the dedicated efforts of our team, a couple hours of enemas and persistent extraction, and a lot of patience from Koral, we were able to manually remove them from her colon!

Today Koral was all clear on her recheck and is feeling great!! And Mom and Dad say that she’s lost all interest in wood chips of any kind 🤣 Way to go, Koral!! See you and everyone soon for Santa Pics 🎅

CONGRATS TO OUR SEPTEMBER PET OF THE MONTH - CHEWIE 🏆♥️

Chewie unfortunately fell off his family boat and received significant lacerations including a deep and life threatening one across his urethra as he was hit by the propeller 😢⚓️

However, thanks to his parents quick action along with life saving stabilization from our team, critical care from Keys Animal ER (), and advanced surgery at ACCESS in Palm Beach County, Chewie is doing wonderfully!!! He is going in for his follow up with the surgeon this week and as happy as can be!! 🥰🥰

Way to go, Chewie! And we are so glad that you loved your Bark Box so much 😍♥️🐶

Come meet Basil, Karma, and Jack in our clinic lobby!! These adorable, playful, and extremely sweet kittens are available for adoption now through us and the 😻❤️

***Update: Basil (the light grey kitten) has officially been adopted 🫶 ***

🏆🏆 Congrats to our March Pet of the Month: BOOMER!! 🏆🏆

Boomer had a large soft tissue sarcoma (a highly invasive localized cancer) that was infiltrating his back leg and causing severe infection and pain. Unfortunately, the tumor was so massive and invasive it couldn’t simply be removed with normal surgical techniques. Plus the longer the cancer stayed around, the more likely it was to continue spreading up the leg and potentially through the body 😢 So, after many discussions and a lot of consideration, Boomer’s mom and dad made the brave decision for amputation. This may sound scary but, fortunately, as we say in vet med, dogs have three legs and a spare!!

The operation went great! Today was Booker’s two week post-operative recheck and as you can see he is a brand new dog!! He is as happy as a clam and finally can go back to running, swimming and doing the things he loves!! 😍 In fact, his parents say he acts like a puppy again and is more energetic and mobile than ever!

Way to go Boomer!! And huge shout out to our staff for giving Boomer his new lease on life 🫶

For those of you with fur babies who have fought or are currently fighting cancer, you understand the deep emotional toll it can take on everyone involved. Part of that journey is often having to sit by your pets’ side while he or she receives chemotherapy 💔

Thanks to Ed Torella, however, we now have a beautiful new addition to our chemotherapy room where owners can sit comfortably alongside their fur baby while they receive their treatment. This couch is dedicated to the memory of his dog, Rascal - a cancer warrior whose chemotherapy helped to prolong his life and continue to make beautiful memories with Ed ❤️‍🩹🐶

The couch is already being put to great use and we cannot thank Ed enough for this donation! In fact, Zeus Housley was able to sit next to his mom and dad just today during his last round of chemotherapy for lymphoma 🥹❤️

Just another example of why the Conch community has the best pet owners in the world!!! 🏝️

🏆🏆LET THE CELEBRATIONS CONTINUE!! 🏆🏆

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR DECEMBER AND JANUARY PETS OF THE MONTH: MATILDA AND TEDDY!!

As many of you know, Matilda went mysteriously missing on Christmas Eve 😭 But after a weeks long exhaustive search by her dad and with the help of many members of the Keys community, she was located and brought home!! Matilda had undergone a lot of physical and emotional recovery since her reunion, but she is back to living her best life with Dad and she absolutely loved getting her BarkBox! And we love you Matilda ❤️❤️

Teddy, on the other hand, has had chronic GI issues related to an inflammatory bowel condition. He has sadly spent his whole life on medications and experienced terrible bloating, appetite issues and diarrhea. However, after some nutritional counseling by us and investigation on his mom’s part, Teddy found a therapeutic diet that has help fully resolve his symptoms!! And as of today, he is off meds and feeling zesty as ever!! Congrats, Teddy - we love you too ❤️❤️
