Hello dog friends and paw-rents! As I’m sure most of you aware, we had some severe flooding on Sunday. The dog park was underwater from the creek flooding over. It has washed away a lot of the mulch and left some not-so-pleasant smells and items on the large side of the park. we have this closed off for now and I will keep you posted when I hear that it will be back open. For now, come enjoy the small grassy side! 🐕🦴🌿🐾

Hey all! Not sure if everyone saw the email, but Maplewood public works put down two different types of mulch for us to test out! They’ve requested we fill out the email response to let them know which type we prefer! ☺️🐾

Incase anyone did not see the recent email from Tiffany from the city, here is what it says:

Hello,

We received a complaint today from a new dog park member about her first experience at the Dog Park this morning. This person just purchased their membership yesterday. According to this new member, when she showed up with her 90+ lb dog, she was told by a female already in the large dog area that her dog (the dog already in the fenced in area) was not friendly and that person instructed her to use the small dog area. This person has requested a refund for her membership. If this is indeed what happened, this is unacceptable. Please keep in mind the following dog park rules:

Owners are legally responsible for their dogs and any injuries or damages caused by them. If you know your dog is not friendly then perhaps they should not be in a dog park with other dogs.

Owners of large dogs have priority to use the large dog area. It is not ok to instruct others to leave as the dog park is for ALL members, not just a select few.

Dogs showing ANY sign of aggression must be immediately removed from the park. If you are asked to leave the park, you must do so IMMEDIATELY. I’m not sure if the dog in question was showing any signs of aggression, but if the owner commented “my dog is not friendly” then that owner is aware of the potential for problems.

This type of behavior can lead to suspension and/or banishment.

Please be respectful and kind to all members.

Please keep this in mind next time you go to the park!

Hi fur friends and pawrents! GREAT NEWS! The dog park is officially back open!!! We hope to see you all there soon!!! 🐾👏🏻🎉🥳

07/28/2022

Hi fur friends and paw-rents! Unfortunately, the dog park was completely under water the night of the flooding, and will be closed until further notice. The park is chained up, with a sign, just so there’s no confusion. Hopefully they get it cleaned up and back in shape soon so our babies can have their park time back! I will keep you all updated with more information. 🖤🐾

Hey Maplewood dog park pawrents! Would anyone be interested in doing a meet up at Bar K when the weather gets nicer? I took my dog Sully today and he wasn’t super interested - very overwhelmed by the sheer amount of people and dogs there. Thought it would be better for him if he knew some dogs there! We would love to get together for an outing and thought this would be a great place to coordinate that! Let us know!

09/06/2021

Hey friends! Anyone going to the dog park tonight around 530? Just curious if anyone would be there on this Labor Day!

07/04/2021

Happy 4th of July, friends!
🇺🇸💥🎉

Anyone going to the dog park today? Sully is getting anxious to get out and play!

06/29/2021

Hey all! What time is everyone coming to the park these summer months?! It’s about 5:50, and Sully and I just got here, but no one is here!! Just curious what time we should try to come from now on! 🤣🤣

04/22/2021

Hi friends! Sully is out of commission for at least another week due to a toenail injury but if you are going to the dog park, spread the word about this page and to like it!! I would love for this to be a place we can get to know each other and our pups, and a place we could use to organize some gatherings at the dog park! 🐾❤️

04/16/2021

Hello Everyone! Hope everyone got the enjoy some of the wonderful sunshine today! 🐕🌞 I would like to pass along a gentle reminder to our pups to try and keep to barking down to a minimum, particularly early in the morning when neighbors may still be sleeping. And I'll also offer again, as I'm no longer a resident, if anyone would like to take over the management of this group, please reach out. Thanks, and wag on!

08/05/2019

I no longer live in Maplewood. Would anyone be interested in taking over the dog park page?

Hi all, we've just moved into the neighborhood and our newly adopted rescue went missing last night about 4 pm. She's a 13 pound dark brown min pin wearing a red collar. Please let us know if you see her. She is extremely skittish and won't come when you call her so please don't chase her. Wishing for a national dog day miracle. ❤️

Millennials are picking pets over people

75% of Americans in their 30s own a dog.
With the median age of Maplewood residents being 34, shouldn't we invest and improve our dog park?

They're also buying custom beds, strollers and costumes for their cats and dogs.

After speaking at every Park Board meeting for the past year, presenting a study to show the usage of the park and the needs of the community, presenting a cost estimate from a local contractor, presenting options for fundraising opportunities, meeting with the Public Works Director to assess barriers and consider alternatives, presenting over 100 signatures and your voice thru over 30 comments of support, and trying to engage the council... I am disappointed to report the Park Board voted against expanding the Dog Park. Thanks for all your support thru the process!

As some of you may know, my name is Adelina Mart and I am the admin for this citizen curated Maplewood Dog Park page. Some of you participated in a dog park survey last December, which I conducted, and I want to give everyone a big THANK YOU!

The research you participated in, titled "Taking a Walk on the Dog Side: an Exploratory Study of Physical Activity Among Dog Park Users", received this year's top award for outstanding public health research from Washington University's Brown School.

Although I graduate in a week, I won't stop petitioning the City of Maplewood for a bigger and better dog park. From Austin, to Denver, to Seattle, I have seen amazing dog parks, and Maplewood can have a great dog park too.

Whether you want a larger dog park because you don't enjoy being swarmed by 15+ dogs when you're trying to get in the gate, or you want to be able to throw a ball and not have it land in the parking lot or the creek, or because (like me) you don't want to spend half hour at the dog park sitting after 8+ hours of sitting at work and home, while watching the rest of Kellogg Park go unused... I urge you to let your councilperson know that you support expanding the dog park.

While I have been talking to the Park Board about expanding the park since last summer, at our April meeting I shared my written proposal. Below is a revised version.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-VnHaJI1-w4KVH1u5jxCudxlPExWAlMyywy2zl-OnCw/edit?usp=sharing
These are my thoughts and views alone, and in no way represent the Park or City. But I do want to ask for your feedback, since hundreds of other people besides myself use the dog park. Feel free to make comments in the document, or write me directly. I would love to hear from you on how we can improve our parks to meet all the needs of our diverse community.

I have a question for the dog owners. If you know Bob with his dogs Max and Gracie, you might also know he is a great artist. Well many years ago he designed a shirt for the Dog pool swim that they sold. We were wondering if anyone knows what happened to the ones not sold? Or if they are still around. It would be fun to see them or buy one.
Hi, we are new to the area and registered for the dog park permit, about two or three weeks ago. Still have not received anything in the mail. They are closed for the weekend so just wondering if that is a normal timeframe to wait for the paperwork and the code
Hi all, I’m excited to join the dog park. I tried the link to join and it was a dead page. Does anyone else know if my girl Dec and I can do this online? Thanks.
The current status of the dog park.
Nugget and I went to the dog park today and there is a sign on the gate that states it is closed until further notice. I noticed a bench, the dog stairs and big barrels outside the park. Also what little wood chips we had is gone. Just lots of mud. I hope they are able to fix this soon for all of our fur babies who depend on their park time.
When you are patiently waiting for buddies.... where are the dog park friends!
Omg how did I not know about this dog park?!
Maple joined the dog park a few weeks ago. What is the best time to go during the day? It seems she’s the only dog there most of the time and she’s ready to play! 🐶
Does anyone have one of those protective inflatable collars for dogs they are no longer using? They're the ones that are more comfy than the bulky plastic cones. My dog Aegon is going to come home soon from emergency surgery and I want him to be comfy. He's a large pittie, so I'm guessing a L or XL. I'll pay! TIA!
My dog Atlas is currently lost in the Maplewood area, last seen heading north of Sarah St around 7 am. If anyone has any information, please call me at 636-875-0686. He is microchipped. Thank you in advance for any help
I happen to be at the dog park last week when this was put up. There is room for other dogs on it too. So nice. Miss that little guy.
Anyone want to join at the dog park? We’re the only ones here, the weather is beautiful and Cindy wants a friend! We’ll be here until 10:45 unless someone shows up sooner.
I am sorry to inform all of you we have lost one of dog friends this week. Ziggy has crossaed over the Rainbow bridge, we will all miss you at the dog park. He was so much fun and always had the other dogs running after him.
I am sorry to inform everyone that today on Nextdoor there was a post about a loss of a dear friend of ours. RIP Ziggy. He was hit on Hwy 44 yesterday when the owners were out of town. I know everyone sends out their sympathy to the family, he will be greatly missed by all.
What times do people usually come to the park on weekends? We are here by ourselves right now and Graham is desperate for a playmate!
Hello! Just registered online, does anyone know if I need to go pick up my dog tags/code? Or will it be mailed?

Thanks!
