Potential Buyers‼️ If you are actively looking for a puppy from a Breeding Program YOU SHOULD EXPECT THE FOLLOWING:
1. Be prepared to place a deposit! Yes, most Breeders will require a deposit! Deposits are NOT refundable! If you back out, you do not get it back! This is to protect against people who set up appointments to pick up their puppy and never show up, cancel at the last minute, or disappear without a word. IF YOU BECOME A REPEAT "BACK OUT OFFENDER" - Expect to have to pay the full amount, upfront, for the next puppy you request.
2. Be financially prepared to pay the full amount owed for the puppy, at a minimum of 2 weeks BEFORE the pup is set to be picked up, or the appropriate age to be released.
3. Have permission from everyone (especially spouse or parents) in the household BEFORE even speaking to a Breeder!
4. Have a budget in place and expect that it may not be enough for the puppy you are inquiring about. Do not demean or haggle. Be willing to wait until you have the preferred amount and try again later.
5. Be prepared for an emergency that may cause you to have to back out, AND BE HONEST with your Breeder. They may be willing to work with you.
6. Also, do your homework on the Breeder or Program! Protect yourself from being scammed! A Good Breeder and Program will have countless references available, as well as a Review Section stating testimonials of the level of service and care given to their Client/ Family.
7. A Breeding Program is not a non-profit, charitable donation, funded, Shelter. We invest our own money into ensuring our dogs and puppies receive the best care possible. We do not uthenize pups or dogs if we run out of room. We pour money into expanding land and increasing space and area to accommodate the needs of our dogs. Former pups that were returned are in our care, along with any pups that were passed over and not claimed in previous litters. This is, again, personal funds used to provide quality of care and support for current dogs and puppies...taking a loss financially at times to protect the integrity of our Program and give the best life possible to all of our Aussies.
Breeders, GOOD Breeders can spend a minimum of 1,344 hrs. caring for, worrying over, feeding, nurturing, and loving those babies for the first 8 weeks of their lives. That is 80,640 mins. of OUR lives spent tirelessly keeping these babies alive and healthy so that they can bring love, joy, and happiness to YOU and your family. That is not including the 100's of hours spent talking to families to try to pair them with the right puppy. Not simply throwing any puppy at them to try to "unload" pups. A good Breeder will want to make sure that not only the family is matched properly, but that the puppy is as well! We desire both the families AND our puppies to thrive and be happy with their new addition.
A Breeder devotes hours, and sacrifices personal family time, spent in customer service, proper care and socializing of the puppy, countless Vet trips (initial Vet exam, Dewormer, Heartworm prevention, Prophylactics, Vaccinations, Supplements, and possible medications needed for each litter- that's just on pups. Not including the Dam's needs while nursing and whelping) Feed Costs for both the adults AND puppies, Kennel costs (bedding, grooming, sanitizing, Genetic Test Kits on hand for testing puppies for buyers if needed, every day essentials, etc. ) not leaving much left in the financial,or energy bank, on one litter, not to mention if there are multiple litters. All while still maintaining a household and obligations required there as well with children, yardwork, and family commitments. We sacrifice the ability to plan vacations (schedules revolve around litter due dates, breedings, and pickup dates for puppy go home days) and are expected to maintain contact 7 days a week, all hours of the day and night. Prior to breeding, you have already invested thousands of dollars on the parents, including Genetic Testing, OFA, etc. to ensure proper breeding protocols are being established....all to ensure the Breed Integrity is maintained, and that the Buyer gets the best puppy possible.
A Breeder's life is about their Aussies and their puppies. Puppies are top priority in their lives from the time they are conceived, until the time they go home to you. In most cases it doesn't end there! We offer life long support, counseling, and advice for as long as we are able, or are needed.
If the Program you are inquiring about a puppy from, checks all of those boxes? You can then most assuredly know, that you are getting what you pay for.
