We've got a whole lot of crazy going on around here, folks. Buckle up and here's the scoop.
We're in the thick of kitten season, and with it comes all the fun illnesses. But our volunteers are dealing with way more than just kitten cooties.
One of our amazing volunteers caught Covid and had to miss her first Cat Con. We're starting to think Covid is like the Panluek of the human world - it's a real party crasher. But just like with Panluek, catching it quickly can save a lot of trauma. Our volunteer did just that and still managed to take care of a super sick kitten, a preggo kitty, and all the other fosters. And just when she thought she was in the clear, her sick kitten took a turn for the worse, and the preggo kitty decided it was go time at the same time.
Meanwhile, at the director's house, it's been a real zoo. School is starting for the little humans, kittens are their usual mischievous selves, a beloved personal kitty passed away, and one of the human kiddos ended up in the hospital. And if that wasn't enough, we've got an adoption event planned in two days, and the shelter just called asking for help with some purebred cats.
Woah, that's a lot. It's like our plate is piled higher than a spaghetti plate at your Italian grandma's house, and the meatballs just keep rolling off onto the floor and out the door. After a serious meeting of the minds, we picked up our forks and we decided we needed to take a step back and reduce the amount of spaghetti on that plate. Armed with our forks and a list of priorities, we made some tough decisions.
We realized that even though we need to get these kittens into forever homes, we also need to take care of our humans - big and small.
Something had to give. So, we're canceling our weekend adoption event, and we'll be doing adoptions by appointment only for a little while.
That takes a big chunk of work off our overflowing plates. We're taking a moment to regroup, get our families straightened out, and we'll be back to our adoption events soon.
Please bear with us while we get our world right again. We'll keep updating, posting, and breathing.
Thanks for your patience and support. We'll be posting kittens available for adoption, and some that aren't quite ready but need your love and links for donations.
We appreciate every single one of our supporters. Thanks for hanging in there with us.
