Happy Father’s Day from Jack’s Pack Boarding & Training! 🐾

Today we’re celebrating all the dads: dog dads, human dads, stepdads, grandpas, bonus dads, and every father figure who shows up with love, patience, and support.

While several of our pups are spending Father’s Day with us, they’re doing their best to make sure their families know they’re loved while enjoying a little vacation of their own.

Thank you to all the dads who wake up early for potty breaks, throw one more tennis ball, share their couches, and love their dogs like family.

We hope your day is filled with wagging tails, wet noses, and plenty of appreciation. Happy Father’s Day! 💙🐶

Meet Rally! 🐾

Rally is an 8-month-old Irish Doodle with a personality that keeps you guessing.

When faced with something new, she can be hesitant, pull away, and act unsure. But give her a little encouragement and suddenly she’s acting like you’ve been best friends for years. 😂

One of our biggest goals during her training is helping her find a better balance. A little caution around new things is perfectly normal, but we want to build the confidence she needs to navigate the world without becoming overwhelmed. At the same time, we’re working on teaching her that excitement doesn’t mean she gets to make all the decisions.

We’re focusing on leash manners, recall, leave it, drop it, and learning that open doors are not invitations to launch herself into the next adventure. If there’s a cracked door nearby, Rally is already planning her escape route. 🚪🏃‍♀️

The exciting part? We’re only halfway through her program, and she’s already becoming more confident around dogs, children, and new environments. Watching her learn that she can handle new situations without fear has been one of my favorite parts of working with her.

I can’t wait to see where the second half of her training takes her. Stay tuned for more Rally updates!

Meet Shelby! 🐾

Shelby is a 5-month-old Golden Retriever/Great Pyrenees mix who is spending some time with me while her family is on vacation.

When I first picked her up, she was all puppy enthusiasm. Her leash manners were practically nonexistent, her sit command was inconsistent, and if I called her name, there was a pretty good chance she had something more important to do. 😆

The thing about puppies is that they don’t magically wake up one day knowing how to be well-behaved adults. Every skill has to be taught, practiced, and reinforced.

In just a few short days, Shelby is already making progress. She’s learning to slow down, pay attention, and make better choices. The smile on her face says it all.

And seeing a young child comfortably walking her? That’s the kind of progress that matters. It’s not just about obedience commands—it’s about creating a dog that can successfully live alongside her family as she grows into a very big girl.

Way to go, Shelby! I can’t wait to show you what else she accomplishes during her stay. ❤️

🎉 Jack is home!

When Jack first arrived, one of our biggest goals was helping him develop better social skills around other dogs. Like many young Heelers, he had plenty of opinions and wasn’t always sure how to appropriately communicate them.

Over the course of his training, we spent time practicing obedience in real-world environments, including trips around Arlington and Home Depot, while also working on his interactions with other dogs.

One of my favorite parts of this update is the video. While Jack is still a work in progress, he’s learning how to engage and play with other dogs much more appropriately. That’s a huge win!

We also made great progress addressing his resource guarding and built a solid foundation with his “leave it” command. These skills will continue to be developed now that he’s back home.

Training doesn’t end when a dog leaves my program—it simply enters the next phase. I’m excited to continue supporting Jack and his family as they work through the next steps of his journey.

Stay tuned. This handsome Heeler isn’t done impressing us yet. 🐾

One of the most rewarding parts of my job isn’t teaching dogs.

It’s getting texts like this. ❤️

Meet Sadie, a six-month-old Golden Retriever working through private lessons to build better obedience and communication with her family.

Training doesn’t happen in a one-hour lesson each week. The real magic happens when owners go home and put in the repetitions, stay consistent, and continue practicing what they’ve learned.

It’s not always easy. Life gets busy. Puppies get distracted. Progress isn’t always linear.

But then you get a picture like this.

Just look at that smile. 😊

I’d say Sadie is pretty proud of herself, and she should be. Her family is putting in the work, and it’s showing.

Good dogs aren’t born. They’re built through patience, consistency, and teamwork.

Keep up the great work, Sadie!

Everyone talks about puppy breath.

Nobody talks about the screaming in the kennel, the landmines scattered across your floor, the tiny shark teeth attached to your ankles, or the older dog in your house wondering why you brought home this chaos machine. 😅

The truth is that bringing home a puppy can be overwhelming. That’s exactly why I offer puppy lessons.

Puppy lessons focus on helping your new family member adjust to life in your home while building a strong foundation for future training. We work on things like crate training, potty training, biting and chewing, confidence building, basic obedience, and helping puppies learn appropriate interactions with the other dogs in the household.

Meet Murphy. 🐾

Murphy recently completed his first lesson with me. His family was struggling with crate training and wanted guidance on helping him successfully integrate with the older dogs in the home.

After just one lesson, we already saw some positive progress and gave his family a clear plan to continue building on.

If you’ve recently added a puppy to your family and are feeling overwhelmed, you’re not alone—and you don’t have to figure it all out by yourself.

🚨 Warning: Heeler owners, you may feel personally attacked by this post. 🚨

Meet Jack.

If you’ve ever owned a Heeler, you already know the drill: smart, determined, opinionated, and fully convinced they have better ideas than you do. Jack is no exception. 😅

This handsome guy is here to work on resource guarding, appropriate play skills, and some basic obedience. He’s a friendly pup who loves making dog friends… but sometimes his enthusiasm doesn’t exactly match what the other dogs have in mind.

The good news? Heelers thrive when they have clear communication, structure, and an outlet for all that brainpower. As a fellow Heeler owner myself, I’ve seen firsthand how much happier these dogs are when they’re mentally challenged and given productive ways to use their energy.

Follow along as we help Jack learn better manners, build confidence, and channel all that Heeler determination into something his family can enjoy.

✨ It’s a wrap for Naila! ✨

In just a few days, Naila will be heading home and showing off all the skills she’s worked so hard to learn during her training program.

We’ve focused on improving her leash manners, reducing jumping, coming when called, staying calm in exciting situations, and simply learning how to be a well-mannered companion. One of the biggest goals was helping her make better choices to protect her body and hips from unnecessary wear and tear caused by rough, impulsive behaviors.

Watching her confidence and understanding grow has been such a rewarding experience. Now comes my favorite part—teaching her family how to continue leading her so they can enjoy all the adventures and dreams they have together.

Great job, Naila. Your future is looking bright! ❤️🐾

Yesterday, Nalia joined me for a trip to Fool’s Kava House, and she showed everyone exactly what good manners can look like.

She calmly relaxed inside the café, greeted people politely, accepted pets, ignored distractions, and even spent time around another dog. No jumping. No pulling. No barking. Just quietly existing and enjoying the experience.

Halfway through, she earned herself a pup cup, and after finishing it off, settled in for a nice little nap.

One of my favorite parts of training is helping dogs learn that they don’t always have to be “doing” something. Sometimes the goal is simply being calm, relaxed, and able to enjoy the world around them.

Thank you to Fool's Kava House for being such a dog-friendly spot. We always enjoy visiting, and the pups love it too! 🐾

Remember the dreams you had when you brought your dog home?

The peaceful walks.
The dog that comes when called.
The dog that can relax beside you at a restaurant, park, or family gathering.

The good news? Those dreams don’t have to stay dreams.

Most behavior struggles aren’t because your dog is stubborn. They’re often the result of unclear communication and inconsistent expectations.

When dogs understand what we’re asking, life becomes easier for everyone.

A little training. A little consistency. A lot of communication.

That’s where the magic happens.
