Great day showing at Troy area horsemans association gaming Friday, Saturday performance and Sunday obstacles. Our students did amazing Miranda showed ls boojie floosie in quite a few in hand events and he did amazing Farrah won the jackpot Friday took 3rd in the versatility Saturday and took home grand champion youth in obstacles Miranda was reserve champion in the versatility and was 5th in obstacles with some tight competition. After watching some local show over the summer I've seen a lot of youth riders that look absolutely miserable riding and parents pushing from the side lines. I think as parents we want what's best for our kids and tend to see there abilities and natural talent more then they can themselves sometimes but at what cost if your child isn't having fun is it really worth the ribbons and awards? I myself have been guilty of over pushing our youngest and entering him in more classes then his 3 year old body can handle and normally we've ended up stratching the last classes. Looking for other opinions and having an open discussion. I wanted to add this has nothing to do with our current students our kids try there heart out and always have a blast at our local fun shows.
