HERDING DOG AVAILABLE
5 month-old border collie mix needs to be re-homed - preferably on a farm or with cattle of some kind. New owner needs to be willing to work with the pup and either take it to special training or agility. Dog is already showing signs of intelligence and willing to protect its owner(s). Summer Camp for Pups? Sure! Consider a day in the woods! Mankato has numerous woodsy playgrounds where pups are more than welcome! Rules of thumb: keep 'em on leash (it's the law), protect them with a pest repellent, and bring water. Have fun, and prepare for a nap afterward!

Necessity of Puppy Socialization
Why is it so important?

Last week we had a puppy playdate at Calling All Paws in Mankato. Tiny little Ruby, a four-month-old Yorkie, came to play with three other pups ages 6 - 18 mos. At first, she hid under a chair and in every hole she could find. "What were these big creatures in my face?" she probably wondered. Her mom wanted to pick her up, but I encouraged her to wait. Within 10 minutes, Ruby was out from under the chair and chasing the bigger pups without a care in the world! What does this say? Dogs are SOCIAL creatures. They on each other and NEED each other to learn from. Bringing your puppy to a play date is an EXCELLENT way to help your puppy understand that it's ok to meet other dogs, and makes them confident when around them.
