What a week for events!!!
On Sunday, we visited Vermillion Valley Equine Center with Equine Veterinarian Dr. Laurie Beard. We assisted with drawing blood on verious horses throughout the facility in order to perform a Coggins test! We are so thankful for Ann White, the owner of Vermillion Valley, for allowing us to have this event at her facility and to help with the blood draws on her horses!
On Saturday, we had a skills lab where we got to learn suture techniques and surgical pack wrapping from two awesome first year vet students, including former President of VV Kyndall Neal! Autumn also created an amazing IV placement demo!
Lastly, we had a Fear Free Companion Animal Handling Demo on Wednesday April 28th. Veterinary Assistant Julie Croasdale, a BS, CPDT-KSA, ABCDT, CGC evaluator and Veterinary Assistant Sara Taylor were great teachers!
Thank you to everyone who has helped teach this week and to all of our lovely members who showed up to the events to learn more and get involved!

What a great way to start off the weekend! We want to give a huge thank you to Dr. Laurie Beard for demonstrating a teeth floating procedure for the club this morning. Dr. Beard is a Clinical Professor and Section Head in Equine Medicine and Surgery at Kansas State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine and we were so excited to learn from her! We also wanted to thank Anne White from Vermillion Valley Equine Center for helping us find this awesome opportunity! @ Vermillion Valley Equine Center

As aspiring veterinarians, it’s important that we strive to ensure that the field of veterinary medicine is a welcoming place for people of all races, genders, sexual orientations, religions, and nationalities.
Therefore, Veterinary Voyagers wants to share with you the stories of some of the courageous people who first began this movement toward change.
We’ll be sharing posts and information from different organizations in order to spread awareness about how we can support diversity in our own communities.
