The best medicine in the world is sunshine and 💕 love.

Bubba is a baby but knows that Polo doesn’t feel great yet. So when Polo decides he’s ready for some Vitamin D each day☀️, his little brother always comes for moral support. Animals have relationships, just like people. Feeling blessed to witness this one🥰

Canine rehabilitation is critical for every geriatric dog! 🐶 Period!

Just to keep up with daily activities like walking, sitting, playing, taking stairs, getting into a vehicle, standing to eat without shaking/ pain it’s a must.

Rehab is not expensive and often as little as six sessions can change your dogs life!

Don’t let your best friend “ get by” or sit in a corner most of the day. Text any questions here about canine or feline rehab and I will try to answer throughout the day💕

Since many of you are texting and messaging me about Polo, thought I’d give an update 😉

Day 7 compared to Day 1!

I’m not expecting any big skin improvements until 21 days ( normal skin cycle) ⏰.

His attitude is definitely better💕

He lifts his head🐶, looks interested in eating now and sits up for longer periods of time 🥰

Compared to the first few days, where he would leak urine off and on due to his profound weakness, I’d say we are headed in a better direction👏🏻

Currently I’m putting meds in his eyes twice a day , his ears twice a day, on his skin 6x a day, doing daily skin treatments which take 2 hours a session, using laser, acupuncture, ozone and aquapuncture 2x/ week each…. It’s a second full time job😂

His precious personality is emerging! If I grab my keys to go anywhere, this dude is game 😂

Thanks to all your good thoughts and messages🤗. We appreciate it 🙋🏼‍♀️🐾

Did you know our custom skin therapies 🛀 take over an hour to apply? It’s pretty much dog utopia… rehydrating the skin, body massage, adding custom soothing ingredients in each step of the process💕

And let’s not forget the hot towel wraps! A warm, steamed towel is placed over your pet while we give her a neck and paw massage!

It makes my heart happy to see our patients adored🥰. This is how vet care should look😉

Let’s talk about Polo💔

Three months ago Polo was perfect ( he had a few hot spots on his chest.. pic posted here ). His dedicated mom saw 2 regular vets and a board certified dermatologist… but after antibiotics and steroids and apoquel , skin biopsies.. nobody had an answer for what was truly wrong 💔💔💔

The family was heartbroken watching Polo sit in the corner and feel miserable. They thought maybe euthanasia was the best , most humane option😭

But a 7 year old boy remembered me😭. He remembered the way I loved his puppy and asked his mom to reach out to me…. Could I take him? Could I bring him home and keep him?

My answer was “ of course “

The truth is… I have no idea what is wrong with Polo. A skin biopsy read by a board certified dermatologist didn’t offer much hope🤷🏼‍♀️ All the western treatments have left him bald and miserable 🤦🏼‍♀️

So…Polo is mine. I promised a 7 year old boy that I would do everything I could to give his dog a better life. I’m 48 hours in. This has been one of the toughest skin cases I have ever had to heal naturally. No antibiotics. No steroids. No antifungals. I pray that I can help this precious boy 😚. He deserves it💕

Just a gentle reminder to be careful with your smoosh faces during these last few hot months!

Bubba has already figured out that the square box on the car dashboard shoots out fabulous cold air and it’s his favorite place to rest during any car ride😂.

The best way to walk your brachiocephalic ( and any dog really)🐶 is the following

1) longer walks in the morning before ☀️ is up or right at day break. When the tongue 👅 comes out ( the final adaptation a dog can make to cool himself) you should come indoors.

2) short potty breaks for elimination only during the daytime. I take mine out every 2-3 hours for this. Make sure to find shade if possible. The shade will be a few degrees cooler and the grass in the shade is less hot for sensitive pads

3) another longer walk in the evening once the sun is setting. This is for elimination post dinner, some smelling around 🌺 ( yoga for dogs) and social time

4) one last short potty break before we head to bed for the night. After this break, I like to apply skin serums and inspect Bubba’s skin for any dirt, urine, 💩 , stickers.. anything that needs to be gently wiped before we go to bed. I especially make sure his face his clean because he gets lots of good nights kisses 😘

When I reflect on 9/11, I remember all the heroes who came together to save Americans. Many of them were four- legged🐕. These dogs were relentless in their rescue effort. They had burned pads ( even through the protective boots), their eyes were red from the smoke and they were physically and emotionally exhausted. But they didn't stop because they knew the mission was serious. The vet teams would make them take breaks and many of the dogs became visibly depressed because bodies weren't being found alive.

I am proud to have served in the military. I am honored to have served as an Army vet who cared for the four legged heroes.

The American flag 🇺🇸 flies on the breathe of all those who have given their lives for our freedom. To me it's the ultimate symbol of hope, bravery and freedom. I hope every one of you will stand when the national anthem is played💜

Hey #teamvetnaturally, I’m getting a lot of comments and concerns about this little guy who was on our stories yesterday. So, let me introduce you to Polo💕🐶🤩

Polo is almost a one year old. Three months ago, he was completely normal with a few hot spots on his chest. So his regular vet started antibiotics and steroids. His skin didn’t really get better 💔. A second vet tried other western modalities .. biopsy, stronger antibiotics … eventually apoquel 💔💔💔.. and a dermatology consult. He was still so miserable his family thought they would maybe have to euthanize rather than let him suffer.

I wish I could say that Polo is the worst skin case I have ever seen. But cases like this are all too common ( especially in this breed)

We are two skin treatments in, and his skin is showing improvements. And we diagnosed an ulcer in his eye today, likely from rubbing his itchy face on things 🤦🏼‍♀️

Cases like this can’t be fixed quickly ⏰ . They take weekly skin treatments , diet change, supplements, acupuncture , ozone therapy, hemoacupucture.. all the things.

These types of cases renew my sense of what VetNaturally is and why we exist🤩.

To all the people with “Polos” out there, please 🙏🏻 come see what we do. I’m so passionate about healing your pet holistically. I have studied a lifetime to be able to do it.

🤗Love, Dr G

I asked the universe for a bulldog😳.

This one has respiratory difficulty, a skin infection, a left ear infection, a cherry eye, on antibiotics for his eye infection, terribly itchy skin, a gash/scar on his left rear leg and luxating patellas…So he’s perfect 🤩

Everyone say hello to Bubba. Will also answer to “hubba Bubba”, “ Bubba bear”, “Chunk” and “ Wheezy Joe”

We started his first skin treatment today. I already love him🥰

This a picture of my heart dog, Bugsy. It was taken over 20 years ago when I was studying for a big vet school exam. I can’t remember which class but I remember how deflated I was.. because of the amount of material I was cramming into my brain 🤕

I looked over at Bugsy 🐶 and my mindset shifted. The human animal bond is what I’m talking about.

Bugsy was my “why” 20 years ago and still is to this day🥰.

As many of our clients work to rebuild after this storm, I hope you will share time with your pets. Take a moment to check in with them. They feel stress silently most of the time. A short walk or some belly rubs will be great for both of you! 🤗

VetNaturally has power and we will be open 9-12 tomorrow. We miss our patients and our clients. See you all soon💕

Hello #teamvetnaturally💕. Currently, I’m sitting in my bathroom giving fluids to one of the 3 shelter cats we took in for the storm 🐈

Just a quick update on a few things…

Our team members are safe! A few of us had some home damage and the clinic had fence damage, but the people are safe💕

VetNaturally, like most of the city, has no power. We will be closed until the electricity comes back on. I’m hoping that will be at the end of the week 🤞🏻

As a prior U.S. Army soldier, my heart is broken for the situation in Afghanistan.. especially Kabul Animal Rescue. I posted a message in our stories from Charlotte for anyone who has been following this story.

We miss our patients and their families. We have been thinking about you! I have the clinic phone if anyone is having problems. The reception isn’t great, but I check it several times a day🥰

One thing about our community is that the worst of times always brings out the best in people. Please be kind to each other and reach out to check on neighbors and friends.

Sending all of you much love,
🤗DrG
