Quick update everyone. We are going to be closed July 3rd and 4th for the holiday. If you have an emergency call the clinic and leave a message. Dr. Angie will get back to you as soon as she gets the message. May EVERYONE enjoy your families and THANK YOU to all those serving allowing us to celebrate our freedom.

Dawning Veterinary Clinic is announcing:
New SUMMER hours starting Monday April 7th:
Monday, Tuesday, and Friday 8am - 12pm
- closed for lunch - 1pm -5pm
WEDNESDAY: 8am -1PM - closed for lunch - 2PM -7PM
THURSDAY: 8am - 1PM
Saturday/Sunday: CLOSED - please call the office if you have an emergency anytime the clinic is closed. Messages are monitored and someone will get back to you with further instruction as soon as they get the message.

To anyone that we didn't reach - we are sorry but Saturday 2-1-25 we are only doing surgeries today and are not seeing any patients if you have an emergency please leave a message we will get back to you as soon as we are available to do so.

Due to the impending ice storm overnight and through the noon hour Dawning Vet Clinic will be CLOSED SAT Dec 14th. However, if you have an emergency please call and you will be forwarded to my cell phone. I will get back to you as soon as I get the message and make arrangements to meet up with you at the clinic as soon as possible.

I hope everyone had a wonderful family gathering for Thanksgiving. As we prepare for Christmas I want to let every one know we will be closed Christmas Eve Day and Christmas Day. As well as New Years Eve Day and New Years Day at the end of December and beginning of the year. Please everyone have a safe and happy holiday season.

After 37 years of practicing Veterinary Medicine, I have an opportunity to sell my practice to Angie Pokorney, DVM
I have enjoyed my time working but I have chosen to retire.

Here is a bio about Dr. Angie

Hello. My name is Dr. Angie D. Reth Pokorney , DVM. My journey has been a bit unconventional. After graduating from Maquoketa Valley High School in 1993 I acquired my AA in Equestrian Science before returning to the family farm to train horses and milk cows for several years..
In 2006 , my husband and I had a very serious discussion and decided I would go back to school.. I started classes at Kirkwood Community College , then in 2008 I transferred to Iowa State . I graduated Cum Laude with a BS in Diary Science and in the fall I started at the Veterinary College at ISU.
In the spring of 2014 toward the end of my clinical rotations, I worked closely with Dr. Jessie Trujillo on a CAEV Goat study.. The resulting research paper is in the process of being published ... Fortunately, after graduation I was able to find a position close enough to home to not to relocate. I landed an associate veterinary position at Key West Animal Clinic in Dubuque.
I have greatly enjoyed working with the staff and clientele at Key West for 10 years. Working exclusively with dogs and cats has prepared me for this next step in my career... I look forward to working with and meeting everyone at O'Brien Small Animal Clinic as I get to know my childhood community again..
My husband and I live east of Delhi with our 2 Golden retriever and 14 horses.
