The Wood County Fair is wrapping up, and Sarah spent most of the week supporting our youth riders. Earlier, she had asked if any parents could get a picture of her kids—and the photo she received absolutely made her heart smile! 💕
When the group was gathering for pictures, someone said, “Okay, now Todak kids!” and invited any kids who interacted with her to join. In this photo, you’ll see not only the permanent Todak kiddos, but also some of our "adopted" show kids—riders who needed a little extra help or whose own trainers couldn’t make it.
🏆 Some of the highlights you can see in this picture include:
-Reserve Champion English Equitation (Senior & Junior)
-Champion Ranch Horsemanship (Senior & Junior)
-Champion Western Horsemanship (Senior)
-Reserve Champion Western Showmanship (Senior)
-1st Place Novice Reining
-1st Place Ranch Trail (Junior & Senior)
-1st Place Age Group Western Pleasure
-1st Place Age Group Hunter Under Saddle
-Plus a slew of Speed and Small Equine Champion/Reserve Champion wins!
✨ And some accomplishments you don’t see in the photo:
-3rd Overall in Versatility for Amelia Dennis
-Top 5 Championship placing in Showmanship with a horse that decided to pivot in the ring—for the first time in three years!
-Top 10 Championship placings for a kid and her young horse in both Reining 💕 and English Equitation (which they’ve only tried together once before!)
-Top 10 Championship placings for a determined kiddo still learning the ropes of correct showing.
Major lessons learned this week:
-Slow your hands down and use your legs and seat—in other words… USE YOUR BUTT! 🤣
-And MOST IMPORTANTLY:
You don’t have to take home a Blue ribbon to be a winner. Small wins are still wins—and horse training takes time, patience, and consistency.
Lastly:
Kids are cool. It’s truly a joy and an honor to work with and support each and every one of these amazing kiddos. 🙌🏼
