This also applies to animals not tethered but left outside. If you see an animal in danger, please call the local police. Numbers are listed below. It’s the LAW, let’s enforce it, Buddies.
📣Effective July 1, 2020, in VIRGINIA
it will be ILLEGAL to keep a dog tethered outside...
• IF it is hotter than 84˚ or colder than 33˚
• During a heat advisory
• During a hurricane or tropical storm
• During a severe weather warning
In addition, this law will increase tethers to 15 FEET and dogs must ALWAYS have a clean living area, food, water, shelter, space to move around and veterinary care.
