Sorry for the lack of posting. My health has been getting in the way as has some chaos with Lucky's health. Shes on the mend but needs twice daily medications, so were keeping a close eye on it all.

The Micro survivors are thriving under Fomos care. She is making sure all ten of her pile are happy and well fed. We have named them Lucky and Hope.

Rat breeding really sucks sometimes!
We lost our beloved Nimbus to delivery complications. The ER vet tryed there best but it was the right choice to put her out of her pain. She was put to sleep with her litter next to her so she wouldn’t need to be separated. We tried to give the 6 babies to Scrungle who had 7 of her own but lost two to stillbirth. I fed everyone by hand with a paintbrush before putting them with Scrungle but it seems like the loss of her best friend was too overwhelming and she wouldn’t care for her babies or Nimbuses. I started hand feeding every two hours and using vet recommended methods of care and keeping them warm. They faded suddenly and without warning. I was down to 5 out of 11 when we saw Forget Me Not aka Fomo had 7 beans, fat and happy. We gave her the babies in hopes of them passing with a mom’s attention at worst, we are down to 2 out of 11 both Nimbus’s. It’s been a wild and heartbreaking 24 hours. It’s a risk we take as breeders to lose does and litters it’s just sucky to have such a long string of bad luck.

Nimbus was beloved. I called her Nimbi or lill cloud lady most of the time and she was such a great mom raising her previous litter. We plan to do a pyer funeral when we know if any of her litter will make it. She will be remembered and celebrated for her amazing babies and helarious bed head. Rest in Peace.

Some updates! The blaze bunch are now split by s*x, and April experiment girls all look pregnant so we should be moving them into the bin cage tommorow when we move the boys into the big cage!

JBOMs Nox Caligo aka Nox will also be joining us this spring. He’s a standard Harley Velveteen! He will be a great addition to our standard lines. Here he is 3 weeks old featuring an oatmeal covered belly because he just finished dinner.

We will have some new additions to Bard Rattery! Our Sister rattery Business of Mischief, run by Kristen Blood, will provide us three new rats to add to our bloodlines. Two standard does and one Micro Buck (specifically for use in improving the diversity in our end of the Micro Project). Kirsten graciously let me name our new additions and I'm so excited!

BOM's Snowdrop - Drippy- Agouti Verigated Velveteen Dumbo Doe - Drippy is take Charge, but she's super sweet. She's not as pushy as some girls can be; she's just happy to be a leader. She got her name due to the great teardrop marking on her forehead. She's a lighter-boned doe with a lovely face we hope our Standard Line will benefit from.

BOM's Dichondra - Orchid - Black Broken Blaze Smoot Coat Dumbo Doe - Broken Blaze Smooth Coat Dumbo, Orchid is a thick girl! Chill and playfully; we hope her heavy bones will greatly add to our big-boned standard line.

BOM's Sir Waldren Wee Walker - Waldo - Mink Blaze Berkshire Smooth Coat Micro Dumbo Buck - Waldren, or Waldo as we like to call him, is mischievous and tenacious. He loves his out time and will always push for more.

All Babies Profiles are up! We will have reservations open next weekend. We should have one pair of boys left and two pairs of girls.

Reservations officially Open 12 PM December 23th Eastern! Any attempt at reservation will be ignored before then.

I haven't been able to put up the Blaze Buddies litter, but I updated it with our current and future breeding rats! We have confirmed
1 New Buck (Micro) and 2 new Does (Standard) from Business of Mischief in NY.

In our Home Our Mischief changes as our rats do! Some rats are with us for life and some will be sent to homes upon retirement or removal from our breeding program.
