LITTLE CONNIE 😓
$5 FRIDAY Hail Mary.
I have been quiet this week because honestly, sometimes rescue is a lot. 😪
As you know we take on the sickest pugs, the dying ones, the ones left in the gutter ... and the rescue and the fight for their life doesn't end there.
Sometimes, like with Connie, the recovery takes months. We are not a drive through rescue. We take on the long term commitments pugs.
Like Connie here who has diabetes, an intestinal disorder, and THE LONGEST TONGUE YOU HAVE EVER SEEN.
I featured Connie in my 5k fundraising video. Many of you have never seen a tongue like that. It makes it difficult for her to eat.
She has the tiniest mouth - and the longest tongue. And when she eats, it's almost like a chicken pecking at food.
AND SO .. she was "pecking" so hard she injured her eye. 😩 And her body reacted so much so that the eye had to be removed. I CANNOT TELL YOU THE STRESS THIS WEEK.
An 8 POUND PUG with complex diabetes, intestinal issues, absorption issues - suddenly needs an EMERGENCY EYE SURGERY.
And no one knows if she can survive anesthesia. 😭
We gather an expert team for an otherwise safe procedure - an eye specialist, a Critical Care Doctor, an Internist, an Anesthesiologist. The bill is $9000, instead of the usual $2000. Plus $2500 because if we have her under we should take intestinal biopsies to see why she's not gaining weight.
CONNIE SURVIVED THE SURGERY.
The anesthesia was rough. Shaky. I did not share because quite frankly between her, Gracie's cancer battle, Jackson, I just needed us all to survive this week. Connie is recovering. We are awaiting biopsies.
The bill is at $11,500 I think - but waiting for finalized one.
$5 -or anything you can spare - Friday for Connie. 🙏

I don't know why these fragile broken 💰💰💰 pugs come to US but they do.
And we fight for them to have a chance to LIVE.
To chew a bully stick.
To have their first toy.
To experience a soft bed.
TO BE LOVED.
Even for a moment.
Thank you pug family. Keep us in your prayers if you have some room. 🙏❤️
