Lying by the back of the kennel, wide pupils and curiously looking around. She meows softly when called and comes to the front with tail high to interact. She enjoys gentle petting along the head and back, ignoring the treats for attention. Seems social, sweet and calm. Cute girl, seems to be adjusting well.

Snow bell was laying in her cubby upon approach She was offered a high value treat but did not seem interested. Staff began to use a wand toy to play get her attention. She came out of her cubby to engage.

10.29.2022
Snowbell was resting in her cubby when assessor approached she came to the front of the kennel and began to rub her head against the kennel doors. When she was greeted she pushed her head against hand and allowed pets on her head and down her back. She rolled over on her side and allowed chin scratches. She was picked up and put down and turned to solicit attention.

5/17/23
She quickly engages the front when spoken softly to. Loose body with tail high. Head bunts and body leans against the hand when petted. Purrs throughout the interaction and remains calm. Ate offered treats.

5/18/23
Comes out and to the front of the cage with a soft and open face and body with her tail raised. She sniffs the hand offered to her and head bunts before leaning into any and all pets as she makes biscuits with her front feet. Ate dry treats and squeeze up offered.

5/20/23
Snowbell was at the front rubbing against the bars and ate treats and enjoyed all petting standing tall with a high quivering tail and arched back. Active and engaged and seeks attention.

Recommendations comments:

Snowbell gets agitated when seeing another cat. She would hiss and growl. We recommend that she goes to a home with no other cats. Snowbell has lived with bunnies and described as aggressive by previous home it is recommended that she be the only pet in the home.

BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:

Snowbell is a social, sweet, and cat with an extensive bite/scratch history (see behavior notes in GAN on 5/4/23 and 5/10/23 for more details). She was resting curled up in the den and then walks to the front, softly meows, and head bunts the door upon approach to solicit attention. She accepts treats offered and head bunts for petting. Snowbell leans in hard for cheek rubs and raises her hips and tail in the air when stroking her back. When reaching around her body, she begins to growl and then pauses when lifted off the ground. During pick up, Snowbell tenses up a little, allows brief petting all over, and attempts to walk out of my arms when held for 5 seconds. After placing her back down, her tail begins to quiver and flick and Snowbell continues to appreciate more treats, petting, and cheek rubs, then head bunts and rubs her face on the door to solicit more attention.

Snowbell has displayed behaviors in her previous homes that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation. Although she currently tolerates petting and handling in the shelter, Snowbell's behavior in a home environment is inconsistent. She does very well, displaying friendly and affectionate behavior the first 2 weeks in a new person's home, but then seemingly attacks out of no where after with no warnings or possible triggers. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. She has a known history of behavioral issues that need to be addressed.

Snowbell did not live with cats in her previous home; however, she lived with rabbits and was described as aggressive and would lunge at them.

Behavior Notes

In the care this cat cries and meows. Snowbell isn't bothered When having her nails trimmed, being picked up and held, or being disturbed while sleeping. She struggles when being put in the carrier. She has not been given a bath or had being brushed.

Snowbell is described as friendly, affectionate, playful and mellow with a ow activity level. She loves to be around you and cuddle and enjoys sleeping and playing with string toys. She likes strings toys, wand toys and catnip toys who is kept indoors only. This cat sleeps in bed with me and eats both wet and dry food and likes temptation treats. She uses a hooded litter with clumping litter. She also uses a vertical scratch post made of rough rope.

Pumpkin is a really big pom mix. She is amazing! Smart and affectionate. She thinks she is a tiny dog. She wants to be picked up and held. After 24 hours, she gave me kisses. Her family had a toddler and a new baby on the way. She was not very patient with the child. She would be great for a teenager or young couple that's active! Lots of energy. Lived with a big dog but very respectful of the little poms here. Not your average pom. Special girl! Beautiful deep orange coat. She has been loved and cared for. She doesn't understand why she is here. Almost 7 years old. KC Missouri.

Baby Cakes A Very Tiny Herione is on the recommended reading list for the North Shore Animal League's Mutti-i-Gree program. It was also selected for author read alouds through their Mutt i Grees school program. The Mutt i Grees curriculum is an innovative Pre-K-Grade 12 emotional learning program.

Adoptable Prince the Pom Princey is ALL Pomeranian. He’s a sneaky little bu**er and he’s managed to weasel his way into single dog walkies after being mean to his foster brother. Prince feels this is a better way for him to have foster mom all to himself, but he’s definitely not making things too easy for his foster family. Prince is all Pom ~ full of sass. He’s looking for a family who has experience with pom shenanigans or major sass who can work with him and show him big time love at the same time. President Heidi Wise at the reading of her childrens book "Baby Cakes A Very Tiny Heroine" at the Ramsey Public Library. After the reading she brought Baby Cakes out so the children could meet her. It was a very fun day!
