Where did June and July go?!? Truthfully, we’ve been busy bees! This is the busiest and wild summer I’ve had on the farm. But here are some photos to inspire you.
🌻The marigold are still doing their thing! - I’ve been harvesting seeds and saving them for next year .
🌻 We’ve harvested well over 2000 lbs of cucumbers this summer. That includes slicers, pickles and specialty cucs. They’ve been sold mostly at markets and at the Central city Co-Op. We really didn’t have much waste ; Yay! You have made this possible. While August is going to be another hot month, we’re still planting and harvesting. My favorite varieties so far are Marketmore 76 ( slicer🥒), Gershwin ( pickles 🥒). Both are amazing producing crops!
🌻 The farm welcomed two of the cutest sheep ( Beau and Bella), sadly Beau suddenly crossed the rainbow , we hope to find Bella a new companion in the coming month and build her a super cozy shelter as we make preparations toward the fall and winter.
🌻 We’re experimenting with different crops, growing methods and reducing plastic use around the farm by incorporating hay, straw and wood chips. This method has been helpful in growing the most beautiful radishes and green onions around this time of the year.
🌻A while back, I made a job post to add crew members to the farm team. So far, the farm has 2 full time and 1 part time employees. This growth would not be possible without your support . So again, THANK YOU! We have a long long ways to go but this makes me hopeful.
🌻 Lastly- when I first started building the market garden, my dream was to make this place clean, accessible and safe for Mateo. He’s now able to run around the farm without tripping🤣😅.
🌻 Farm plans: hopefully set up the greenhouse soon, build more beds before fall planting, starting fall seeding before the end of the months, repair deer fence and survive August !!
Anyways, here’s just a little update.
