May so far! I’ve been a busy bee and so much to celebrate.
🌻We harvested over 200lbs of bulb onions this year. This is truly amazing and shows how much soil health and earth stewardship is important.
🌻 We are growing a new variety of summer squash originally from the city of Odesa in Ukraine called Odessa. It looks similar to a spaghetti squash . It is a vining plant which honestly is awesome in my opinion, because it ensures I may harvest 3 or fruits from a single plants. This squash has a buttery flavor , creamy texture , has a lot of flesh and still keeps firm when cooked which makes it a great culinary staple!
🌻 Carrots are still coming in. We are harvesting and planting cucumbers , beans, squash, melons and other veggies every week.
🌻 This year, I had a whole list of flower varieties that I wanted to grow but the weather and life had other plans for me lol. The farm is still colorful and I’m still harvesting vibrant bouquets for markets, friends and family. I even used them as a wedding dinner decorations and bouquet - which bring me to my next point!!!
🌻 I married my best friend!!! It was the most beautiful, magical day. Being surrounded by family and closed friends while celebrating with veggies and flowers from the farm. Our little wedding was just a mixture of us both and our life ahead. This farmer is a whole wife!!! 😀
🌻 Meanwhile, the farm is growing- from just working by myself to adding volunteers ; Daphodill farm has now two full time employees and 3 volunteers !! This means so so much to me. Daphodill farm was just a thought a few years ago - there was a lot of sleepless nights, early early morning run to the farm to harvest, crying, loneliness and more meltdowns 🤣 I’ve even taken long term breaks from markets - I’m in awe, I’m excited and I can’t wait to grow more food for you! 💛🌻 Thank you for supporting my farm in the many ways you have. Really, this is where your dollar goes. I’m grateful to my husband and family for helping me build my farm business.
🌻 Also, the Korean melons are huge this year and tasty! No synthetic fertilizer, just good seeds, generous amount of compost, water and care.
