Meet Aleizshia, my newest mare in training. Aleizshia has been working on collection and body control these past couple days. Collection is important for a horse’s movement because it creates balance, strength, and control. When a horse is collected, they shift more of their weight onto their hindquarters instead of leaning on their front end. This engagement of the back legs acts like an engine, allowing the horse to move with more power while staying light in the front. As a result, their strides become more controlled and elevated rather than rushed or heavy. Collection also improves transitions, turns, and stops, making the horse more responsive and safer to ride. Overall, proper collection helps a horse move in a way that is both athletic and graceful.

Aleizshia will continue her career as an eventing horse as well as just an all around, shows, trails etc. Follow along to see her progress through the next 30 days!

Training isn’t just about the ride—it’s about the relationship. In just four days, Captain is settling in great, learning to relax, and starting to trust the process. Solid foundations start with time, feel, and consistency.

What else do I offer?
Working one-on-one with clients and their horses that are in training.

These sessions are designed to:
• Build trust and consistency between horse and rider
• Create clear communication and understanding
• Ensure the training transfers smoothly once the horse goes home
• Help owners learn how to handle, cue, and correct effectively
• Strengthen the connection that makes for lasting partnerships both in and out of the saddle

Developing a horse is only half the equation — teaching the rider is what brings everything together.

The fancy stuff only works when the basics are solid.
Softness, respect, and confidence — that’s where every good horse starts.

It’s easy to get caught up in the big goals: a smoother stop, a better spin, or getting a horse ready for the trail. But none of that lasts without a strong foundation. The groundwork, the quiet moments, the repetition — that’s where a horse learns to trust, listen, and think instead of react.

Every horse moves at their own pace, and that’s okay. The goal isn’t to rush them — it’s to help them understand. When a horse feels safe and confident in the work, everything else falls into place naturally.

Groundwork is the foundation of every great horse. It’s where trust, respect, and communication begin before a rider ever steps into the saddle. Through consistent groundwork, a horse learns to stay soft, focused, and responsive — building confidence in both the horse and the handler. It’s not just about teaching manners on the lead; it’s about creating a partnership where the horse looks to you for guidance instead of reacting out of fear. Whether you’re working with a young c**t or refreshing an older mount, investing time in groundwork sets the tone for everything that follows under saddle. A solid start on the ground makes for a safer, more enjoyable ride — and that’s exactly what professional training can help you achieve.

Big progress in a short time! This gelding has just around 10 rides under saddle and is already trotting/loping out confidently in an open area. We’ve been focusing on softening him in the bridle and helping him stay relaxed and responsive. It’s always rewarding to see things start to click.

If you’ve got a horse ready to get started or one that needs a little tune-up, message us to book your spot!
