Liver biopsy in stocker cattle to check liver copper, zinc and selenium levels. 9/30/25. Liver biopsy is the only accurate method to assess mineral nutrition. We want to see if the mineral they consume is giving adequate levels of liver copper, zinc and selenium leads. If the cattle are deficient, we will see poorer performance in these cattle especially in light of disease resistance. 25 mg of liver (about 10 millionths of a pound) will be analyzed at Kansas State University Veterinary Diagnostic Lab by flame photometry. We’ll get results early next week.

Reminder that all cattle will need to have received their respiratory vaccine by Monday, September 15th. Each animal will need official ID, either a ln 840 tag or their scrapie tag! Good luck to all those showing!!
