I need to go out of town for a few months and so I took Rena back to the rescue until another foster takes her or you adopt her. Rena, a 7 year old Shiba Inu from a breeding farm is so sweet, but shy. If you have Shiba Inu, or shy dog experience, Rena could become your loyal friend. She prefers women to men. She also benefits from the mentoring presence of another dog her size. Rena is about 22 pounds. Sne is a wonderful dog with so much potential.

Rena has made strides in the few weeks she has been with us. From 7 years time in a breeding farm to a home has been a great change for her.
Rena is now an easy peasy foster. The daily care and maintenance of Miss Rena includes: wake-up at 5:30-6:00, breakfast, a walk, a Kong or puzzle game, then Rena takes a nap. She takes a short potty break in the afternoon. Then the process repeats with dinner, a walk, a Kong or game. This is my routine. She could learn to follow your routine too. Rena would be good in a home that understands that she’s still a bit shy. I think she would be fine as an only dog, or with another calm dog her size. She would be fine with older children who understand her bashful behaviors. Rena rarely barks. She doesn’t get up on furniture. She likes her people nearby, but doesn’t need hugs and cuddles. She is pretty, calm, independent, well behaved and great to have around. Rena is ready for adoption!

Rena is a pretty, 22 pound, 7 year old, Shiba Inu. She came into rescue from a breeding farm, and living in our house is new to her. Rena has been with me for about a month. She is housebroken, calm, not a barker, alert, smart and walks well on a leash. She eats well and sleeps well in a dog bed in my bedroom. She is non-destructive and allowed to roam the house when I’m gone.

I thought Rena needed an outing. I took her to a pet food warehouse. Rena was excited and curious. After roving the shelves, she picked out a pig ear and a bully stick. A successful shopping trip!

Rena has so many fine qualities. Now add “member of the clean plate club.” She seemed picky about her food and I was adding an egg or yoghurt to her kibble. Now Rena eats everything in her bowl. What a difference few weeks of time and a routine have done for her.

I am always telling you of Rena’s fine qualities: housebroken, pretty, calm, non barky, walks well on a lead, enjoys being with her humans, alert, and smart. Add to that list Rena is a friend to Bowser and she sleeps well in a dog bed in my bedroom. She is not a fan of sleeping in a dog crate. Rena also has become a greeter when we walk through the door after a long or short outing. (see video in comments) She is non-destructive and is allowed run of the house when we are gone.

I have been telling you about the fine qualities of my foster dog, Rena. She is a 7 year old, 22 pound Shiba Inu. Rena is housebroken, pretty, calm, not barky, walks well on a leash, eats well and enjoys being with her humans. Add to that Rena is alert and smart. She likes this puzzle toy, and quickly figured out how to lift each bone to get to the treat below. Rena also loves a Kong filled with a treat. She is a wonderful dog and will be a great companion for someone who is patient. Rena was at a breeding farm for 7 years and remains a bit shy. Also, knowledge of the Shiba Inu breed is important.

This is my foster dog Rena. She is a 7 year old, 22 pound Shiba Inu. She has so many fine qualities: housebroken, pretty, calm, not barky, walks well on a lead, eats well, and enjoys being with her humans. Her favorite activity is a walk or 2 per day. She is agile and keeps a good pace, and is not distracted by other dogs, or traffic. Bit don’t assume she is high energy because Rena also enjoys taking a nap. She is not fussy about her bed and can easily drop in her tracks, get comfortable and enjoy a little snooze. We find her resting positions quite amusing.

I want to tell you about my new friend Rena. She’s a 22 pound, 7 year old Shiba Inu. With her dense, plush, red and white coat, fox-like face, triangular ears, and curled tail, she is indeed very pretty. True to her breed characteristics she is intelligent, independent and curious. Also known for a strong prey drive, this Shiba has been no threat to our local squirrels and bunnies. She has been with us for just a week, but I consider her housebroken. Rena shows us affection by coming close for pets, but doesn’t attempt to jump on furniture to cuddle with us. She will follow me from room to room to keep track of me. She loves to have her fur brushed and seems to find it relaxing. Her favorite activity is going for a long walk. She keeps a good pace and is not distracted by other dogs. She is agile and strong and enjoys exercise. Rena is not a big eater, but likes a little egg or yoghurt or canned food added to her kibble. Rena sleeps well all night in a crate.
Rena is a joy to have around the house. It has only been a week, so I will keep you updated on her new milestones. We love our little Shiba. ❤️
