It is that time of year. We are booking Adult Hen Pheasants. Ready to pick up around April 1.

We have been raising Pheasants for over 40 years and did many test on them to figure out the best way to produce more Pheasants in the wild.

One of the tests that we have did with them is, Took 15 Hens and pulled all the eggs from the Hens for 60 days, then left them in the flyway pens to see if they would produce any chicks. They did not produce any. We did find a few eggs in there, but they had no interest in setting on them. They were completely wore out.

The next trial we did was put 15 hens in a flyway pen, we did not put lights on them to start them to laying early. Then we put the roosters in with them around middle of March to breed the hens

On the third week of May, we collected the birds in there.
We ended up having 163 baby Pheasants out of 15 Hens.

These hens will be breed and will not have any eggs taken from them, so they will be ready to start laying around the first part of April.

These hen Pheasants are in very good health and are not worn out from eggs being picked from them.
If you purchased Hens from a hatchery, they will put Lights on the Hens in February to get them to start laying eggs early so when you get them, they’re completely laid out of eggs and will not lay no more eggs and they are completely wore out

We like to hold the Hens until around April 1, so most of all the snow is gone. Then they will have a better chance to find food.

If you do get hens make sure you have cover for them like slough grass, CRP grass, trees, and any kind of cover like that.

What we have been doing for all these years has really worked very well.

When laying hens from a hatchery that are being released , it fights against us because all that is being done is keeping the predators more healthy.

If you are interested or have any questions what so ever give me a call
I pay a 1/3 of the expense on the Hens and your cost would be 2/3
My goal is to keep the Pheasant populations up for the next generations.
