☀️ Hot-Weather Care for a Newly Sealcoated Driveway
During periods of high heat, the surface temperature of a black driveway can become significantly hotter than the surrounding air. Newly applied sealer may be more susceptible to tire scuffs, tracking, and power-steering marks during this early curing period.
After the driveway has completed its required drying time and is safe to drive on, lightly watering the surface during extremely hot weather can help cool it before vehicles enter. Water it gently and evenly, similar to watering a garden—do not flood the driveway or use a high-pressure spray.
For the first several days, also avoid turning the steering wheel while the vehicle is stopped. Keeping the vehicle moving slightly while turning greatly reduces tire marks.
Always follow the specific reopening instructions provided by your sealcoating contractor.
