Vaccines play an important role in keeping pets healthy, and understanding how and when to give them is just as important. Our clinic recommends separating vaccines by at least 2 weeks to help reduce the risk of reactions and keep pets comfortable.
It’s also important to know that if your pet is not feeling well—coughing, sneezing, vomiting, having diarrhea, dealing with an ear infection, or showing any signs of illness—they are not a candidate for vaccination at that time.
However, you should still schedule an appointment so we can diagnose and treat the issue and get them back on track.
Here’s a helpful article that highlights a recent study showing that dogs are much less likely to experience an adverse vaccine reaction when vaccines are separated by at least 2 weeks between administration.
Don’t let pet owners throw away their shots.
