Imagine drifting off for a Sunday afternoon nap with the soft sound of a sweet dog snoozing right beside you. 🥹🐾

Fall weather will hopefully be here before we know it… which means cozy blankets, lazy Sundays, football on the TV, and the perfect excuse to have a furry best friend curled up next to you. 🍂🏈

And lucky for you, we happen to know a few dogs who would be more than happy to fill that spot. ❤️

This Sunday, we’re feeling especially grateful for young people who are willing to give their time, serve their community, and show compassion to animals in need. 💙🐾

A HUGE thank you to the students from Mount de Sales Academy Macon GA and Coach Reeves Coates for spending their day volunteering with us!

There is ALWAYS something that needs to be done at the rescue, and having a group show up ready to jump in and help makes such a difference. From sorting supplies and tackling chores to walking dogs and, of course, sneaking in plenty of puppy love — every set of hands helped lighten the load for our team. ❤️

But days like this mean even more to us for another reason.

Animal homelessness, neglect, and overpopulation are huge problems in our community. Giving young people the opportunity to see those realities firsthand is incredibly important if we want to create lasting change.

When students get to experience rescue work, meet the animals affected, and understand what goes into caring for them, we hope it plants a seed — one that grows into compassion, responsible pet ownership, advocacy, and a community that does better for its animals. 🐾

A special thank you to Coach Reeves for helping make this day possible and for giving these students the opportunity to serve in such a meaningful way.

Today, we’re just really grateful. 💙

Grateful for helping hands.
Grateful for young people who care.
And grateful for everyone who chooses to be part of the change.

**UPDATE: We heard you! Her new start begins with the name Dolly and the other one who came in with her will be Phoenix!

🚨 THIS DIDN’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT & WE WOULD LIKE YOUR HELP NAMING HER!

Look at her body. Just 27 lbs!! She is one of two we got and she weighs 6 more lbs than the other.

This is what happens when an animal is failed day after day after day.

She was found locked in a small space—emaciated, dehydrated, covered in fleas, with severely overgrown nails and urine and f***s on her coat.

She depended on someone for everything.

For food.
For water.
For a clean place to live.
For protection.
For basic care.

And instead, she was left to become this.

Remember this photo.

Burn it into your memory.

Because the next time you see her, she will NOT look like the dog they nearly destroyed.

She will be stronger.
She will be healthier.
She will know love.

And this photo?

This will be proof of what she survived—not how her story ended. ❤️

From this moment forward

She eats.
She drinks.
She rests.
She heals.
She learns that hands can be kind.
She learns that people can be safe.
She learns what it feels like to be loved.

A NATIONAL DOG DAY INTRODUCTION WE WISH WE DIDN’T HAVE TO MAKE. 💔🐾

What better day to introduce Mellie, age 7, and Smokey, age 2 — two tiny, terrified souls who were just saved from a breeder situation gone terribly wrong.

They lived outside.

They were filthy.

And the collar pictured below? That came off Mellie’s neck. 💔

Today, they are clean. They are safe. And for probably the first time in a very long time, nobody is asking anything from them.

They can simply rest.

❤️ Mellie and Smokey are NOT AVAILABLE for adoption yet. They need time, grooming (any groomers in Macon willing to donate their services?) vetting and most importantly, time to learn that people can be kind.

For National Dog Day, we aren’t asking you to adopt them.

We’re just asking you to welcome them to their new life. 🥹❤️

Drop a ❤️ for Mellie & Smokey and let these two precious babies know there are a whole lot of people rooting for them.

Without big dog adoptions saving dogs that are out of time is not an option for us.

Therefore these dogs need YOU guys before it’s to late which is VERY soon! The countdown has begun and these poor dogs who are playing so happily here have no idea they are about to take their last walk down that ugly hallway.

Please if you cant adopt, SHARE. You really never know what dog might strike someone else. Just a quick share could really save a life.

These dogs are not with us. They are with our city pound, Bibb County Sheriff's Office Animal Services located in Macon, GA.
