As I was getting ready tonight to register for another event, I paused and looked back through time over the past ten years, to see where all the places that the eventing journey has taken me (and several horses). I've had the opportunity to get to know some really great places and people in multiple USEA areas, in fact all but three (gonna have to hit those in the next few years). I've competed in Areas 1,2,3,4,6,8 and 10 (awesome memories from all those areas!), leaving only Areas 5,7, and 9 to hit. Many of these areas are small but mighty with quite a diverse population- 4,8 and 10. Area 1 is by far the most tight knit with a very motivated and close group of eventers, and the most welcoming by far!. Area 3 is definitely the most fun! Tons of venues, warm tropical weather, polo shirts and breeches are the standard uniform. Area 2 is the most serious, these competitors mean business (I even got scolded by a volunteer entry gate steward). Area 6 and 10 although off the beaten path of the east coast is also small but mighty and so far the population of eventers here are dedicated and team oriented- willing to promote the sport anyway they can.
I compiled a list of all the venues I've had the opportunity to compete at recognized horse trials-maybe you have a favorite?!

Many of these areas/venues may conduct events slightly different from others, but one thing holds true, sadly some of these are no longer on the competition schedule, all depend on our support as Eventers. Once we lose one, we likely wont get it back, so if and when you can get out and compete, even if its a jaunt around the starter course-our sport depends on it!
