Last week was Lynchburg Composite Squadron's monthly physical training and leadership-focused meeting. Following a challenging circuit workout, the leadership team led a focused discussion on confidence.

Engaging in regular physical training aims to improve fitness, confidence, teamwork, and determination in the cadet corps. Pairing physical training with leadership discussions works to develop members into effective leaders.

If you are interested in learning more, make plans to join us at our upcoming open house on March 31.

Earlier this month members of the Lynchburg Composite Squadron recognized several cadet promotions. During the meeting, Lt. Jones led the cadets through a character development class on the topic of bouncing back from difficulties followed by a speech given by Cadet Chief Master Sgt. Fletcher. Lynchburg Composite Squadron held its monthly character development and promotions focused meeting on Monday evening, where several cadets were recognized for their advancement in the Civil Air Patrol cadet program. That night was also a time for special recognition of the change of command for cadet leadership within the squadron. Outgoing cadet commander, Cadet Lt. Col. Weatherford was recognized for his leadership over the unit during his term. Incoming cadet commander, Cadet Capt. Justice accepted command of the unit from Unit Commander 1st Lt. Jeremy Weatherford and welcomed the cadet corp to a new term by outlining her goals and plans. Congratulations to all!

Lynchburg Composite Squadron was excited to welcome Centra One to its meeting this evening. After watching the landing of the aircraft CAP members were given the opportunity to interact with Centra One crew members and the aircraft before participating in a discussion that blended both aerospace and emergency services topics. Thank you Centra One for visiting our squadron!

Prospective cadets are invited to attend and learn more about what the Civil Air Patrol offers. Lynchburg Composite Squadron recently held its monthly character development and promotions ceremony, where several cadets were recognized for advancement in the cadet program. The unit welcomed Virginia Wing Commander Colonel Patrick Fulgham, CAP, along with Group Commander Maj. Duncan, to the meeting. Both took the opportunity to address the cadet corps, encouraging them in their journey within the Civil Air Patrol cadet program. We pridefully offer our congratulations to the many cadets who were recognized for their achievements.

In March, several members of Lynchburg Composite Squadron participated in a Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) where cadets and senior members engaged in various ground team search techniques. Members utilized radio training to assist in a line search and other Ground Team Member activities. Cadet 2nd Lt. Justice was able to use this training opportunity to complete her GTM3 requirements. This is just another way that Civil Air Patrol members are training in the everyday for the someday.

Earlier in the month, several members of Lynchburg Composite Squadron participated in a Divisional Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) where cadets and senior members engaged in urban direction finding (UDF) exercises. This training prepares members for duties involving the electronic detection and tracking of emergency signals in more urban settings. Just another way that Civil Air Patrol members are training in the everyday for the someday.
