🚨‼️ BEING EUTHANIZED ON 2/4 ‼️🚨😭😭
😭 8 months ago sweet Derby ran into a restaurant injured and looking for help. After all this time trying to survive in the county kennels among hundreds of dogs and people coming and going she is urgent.
Intake Info: A local fast-food restaurant reported that a female canine ran inside their restaurant on 07/05/25.
She was limping on her front left leg and had redness on her hind legs. She didn’t have a microchip and was named Derby. Adopted in October, she was returned because the adopter lived in a community that does not allow her to live there.
Medical: Derby is a 3 yr old spayed girl who is HW negative and vaccinated. Her health score is 3. Derby did well for medical processing and is a sweet girl.🥰
Behavior Observed: On 02/01, Derby displayed resistant behavior during playgroup when a team member attempted to correct her. Prior to this, Derby had attended several playgroups, socializing with many dogs, though she sometimes kept to herself. She can become overstimulated and vocal. Recently, during a meet and greet with a member of the public, Derby became excited while being petted. When staff informed the customer about Derby’s tendency to become overstimulated, the customer stopped petting her. However, Derby was already over threshold and began running around the area, then jumped up and became mouthy and nippy toward the customer. When staff took hold of the leash to regain control, Derby redirected and nipped at the staff member. She remained vocal and energetic throughout but eventually calmed down and neither the customer nor staff sustained any injuries.
Volunteer Notes: Derby was friendly and sweet on her walk. She had fun in the yard and loved playing with toys. NO issues leashing or walking her through the kennel and she allowed petting all over.
