These two share quite the success story, one that sadly ended far too soon. In just three short years, they earned several ribbons and trophies together, a true testament to their bond and hard work. This sweet baby was so fortunate to spend her short life with Aubrey. Below, I’ve shared Aubrey’s story, told from her firsthand experience with Potomac Horse Fever.

‼️POTOMAC HORSE FEVER‼️ is moving into the area. My horse just passed away from it, she was 3 and very healthy! Anoka Equine said they’ve had many cases of it this year, the place my sweet mare is being cremated at also said they’ve cremated lots of horses who passed from It.
My sweet Melody crossed over the rainbow bridge on Sunday night. It all started by Melody not coming out of the barn starting Friday. Saturday morning she was a little lethargic and had bad diarrhea. Later Saturday night she ran a high fever, and so our vet came out on Sunday morning to check on her. Melody started looking really bad, she was very lethargic, still had a high fever, still had diarrhea, and wasn’t wanting to eat. Our vet trailered her to Anoka Equine because my family and I were on vacation in Grand Marais for the weekend. Our vet continued to update us throughout the day on Melody’s condition. She eventually needed a tracheotomy due to her struggling to breathe. My mom and I were on our way to Anoka Equine to come and be with her, when we got the call at 11:40pm that Melody had passed away. Melody was a very healthy horse, despite her accidents throughout the years, and it’s shocking how fast she declined.
‼️They are recommending you don’t have your water trough near lights, in the case that mayflies would go to the light and fall into the water-your horse would injest them.
‼️Also another note, I scrub out my horses water a few times a week. I don’t let it become gross or let stuff grow in it. If I wouldn’t drink out of it, my horses shouldn’t either.
