Bark Side of the Groom Stress Free Dog Grooming Services by Michelle Porterfield I've worked in the dog grooming industry since 2014 and have been actively grooming dogs since 2017.

My goal is to create a calm, stress free environment and to provide one on one grooming services for your family pups. I do not schedule overlapping appointments, so there are never dogs from separate clients together nor do I kennel. Everything is done from my home in Lufkin (address will be provided once an appointment is scheduled).

As of August 2025

Prices shown are for well maintained coats and for dogs on a 4-6 week schedule. There is an increase in price for excessive matting, fleas, or behavioral issues.

**I am no longer accepting new clients with dogs over 25lbs**
(This is non-negotiable, and due to a spinal injury)

Bath Service includes: bath w/shampoo & conditioner or a shed control conditioner if needed, blueberry face wash, a**l glands expressed if needed, brush out, sanitary area & paws trimmed, ear cleaning, nail trim/grind, cologne. $25 - $35

Full Service Groom includes everything listed above plus haircut. $50 - $65

I do require proof of rabies vaccination; veterinarian issued records only, tags are not accepted. While I do not require other vaccinations such as DHPP or Bordetella, I do recommend that your dog be kept up to date for their continued health and wellness.

The call I always dread is a client letting me know their fur baby has passed away. Little Miss Daisy crossed that rainbow bridge today. I’ve sat here for twenty minutes since that phone call, crying while I looked through photos. Daisy was one of my originals, back from before I was a home based grooming salon. I’ve seen her every 4 or 5 weeks for the past 6 years or so. It’s going to feel odd not seeing her name on my schedule each month.
You will be missed Miss Daisy. 🥰

November and December have filled up quickly! I’m going to list the days that I still have openings, make sure to text or call to get your pups in before the holidays!

November 25th, 26th, 27th

December 4th, 9th, 10th, 12th, 16th, 30th

There are a few other dates that I can fit additional appointments, but that’s definitely determined by how long your pup usually takes to groom or if you’re just wanting a bath and tidy up.

Had a great conversation today about muzzles. A gentle reminder to pet parents, muzzles are a great bit of training that can and should be included in your pet’s training. But they shouldn’t be used as punishment. And definitely should not be used for the first time in a stressful situation, i.e. first time grooming appointment. If you’re interested in muzzle training your pup, reach out to a trainer, find the right type and properly fitting muzzle, and use positive reinforcement to encourage your fur baby to become comfortable with it. One of the worst parts of my occupation, is knowing that I’ll outlive these beautiful souls. Got the call today that Snoopy crossed the rainbow bridge. He was a well loved senior and such a sweet soul. I’m sure his brother Moose welcomed him home. ♥️

Quick reminder! I am on vacation and am not scheduling appointments or taking business calls during this time! I’ll respond to texts and voicemails when I’m back in town next week ♥️ also my next openings aren’t until the week of July 22nd!

Hey ya'll! A little update for the summer and for going forward! Just a heads up that I will not be scheduling any appointments between July 2nd and July 9th.
For all scheduled appointments, please make sure you give your pup a chance to potty before bringing them in. Excessive accidents may incur additional charges. (Every accident causes delays and requires multiple steps for cleaning and sanitizing).
Your appointment time is your drop off time. If you arrive early, you may text that you're here, but there's not a guarantee that I'll be ready to take your pup quite yet. Arriving over 20 minutes late for appointment could result in cancellation. No-shows, repeatedly late or last minute cancellations will require 50% of missed appointment to be paid prior to being scheduled again.
I will always give a heads up towards the end of the groom for when your pup will be ready, and I do ask that your pup is picked up within 30 minutes of that estimated time.
Ya'll, I'm just a one woman operation and this only works if every one is on the same page :)
