🐾 Compassion fatigue is real in rescue.
When you work or volunteer in animal rescue, you see more than most hearts can hold — animals neglected, abandoned, sick, or injured. You give every ounce of love and energy to help them. But the constant need, the endless emergencies, and the ones you can’t save… they take a toll.
This is called compassion fatigue — emotional and physical exhaustion from caring deeply, day after day. It can leave you feeling drained, numb, or hopeless.
To our fosters, shelter workers, transporters, vet staff, and rescue volunteers: You are not alone.
Your feelings are valid. Taking a step back or asking for help doesn’t make you any less committed. It means you’re human.
💛 Caring for yourself is part of caring for them. Rest, connect with your people, and remember — the animals you’ve helped are living proof that your work matters.
