Here is a diagram showing just how easy it is to cape your deer for a shoulder mount. I extended a couple of the cuts in red. It is always better to leave too much cape than not enough. Hope this helps.

I will be taking in a limited amount of deer again this fall for shoulder mounts. My emphasis has and will always be on continuing to improve my art. By controlling my workflow, i am able to give each piece the time and effort that it deserves. I will also be taking in fresh deer heads for skull mounts. Stinky, rotting, or decaying heads will be turned away.
