Hi everyone!
I wanted to formally introduce myself.
I’m a 5-year-old gelding from the Lost Creek HMA in Wyoming, formerly known as tag number 4309.
For the last five years or so, I’ve been living at a holding facility, waiting for a human to adopt me and bring me home.
Last week, I was sent to the Rainsville, Alabama adoption event, where my new mom’s friends, and , picked me up. Then, on May 31st, I finally made it home!
My new neighbor, Sheik, had been waiting for me… well, maybe not. He’s kind of mean, but that’s a story for another time.
The past few days, I’ve been pacing my panels a little. It’s the first time in a long while that I’ve been by myself, but I’m working on settling in.
I absolutely love these creatures called dogs. They come over to greet me every time they’re outside, and they help me calm down a bit.
My mom didn’t want to work with me for at least a week so I could settle in, but I had other plans. I discovered that she gives really good forehead scratches, and that’s become my favorite thing. Then she started scratching my cheeks and neck too. Can you believe it? I love it!
This morning, she brought out this thing called a halter. Well, I figured that if I stuck my head into it, I’d probably get some scratches. When I did, she almost started crying. Is that a big deal around here?
Anyway, I’m loving it here, and I can’t wait to make new friends.
If you’ve made it this far, I’d like to share my new name with you - mom and her friend came up with it on the way to picking me up. Mom says I’m not a number anymore, and from now on, everyone can call me…
