My boy, Kaboom's, grandson. Sire was Dude from the Kaboom/Gambol litter.
Welcome to Cottonwood. The Wirehaired Pointing Griffon is physically very demanding dog. Not the dog for most people Whether you are a serious hunter, wish to compete in the show ring or want a companion dog we have the puppy for you.
Our dogs compete in all three of these arenas and excel in each.
Operating as usual
My boy, Kaboom's, grandson. Sire was Dude from the Kaboom/Gambol litter.

Kaboom--GCHB Fireside's Cottonwood Kaboom JH NAII--took a piece of my heart last night when he died unexpectedly seemingly in good health. 10 years old. There are so many photos of Kaboom I could share. Bounding in the field with tireless energy. Sitting smack dab on my lap. Cuddling on the couch. Barking at real--and unreal intruders. Show photos. Hunt photos. But it is this photo--that I'll ever remember this boy who stole my heart as we flew from PA to TX for Kaboom to start his new life with us. This picture says what he was--oh so sweet and gentle. Other words to describe him--Magnificent. Never ending energy. Protective. Loving Silly Smart. Stubborn Funny.Independent. Patriarch. And now the boy that I adored beyond measure--is gone. I'll miss you forever Kaboom. Sleep well my sweet babu.
Today--is Gambol's Summertime Litter's 7th birthday. How the time has flown. Many of the puppies from this litter now have a Cottonwood half-sibling or cousin living with them. Happy Birthday to this lovely litter and their outstanding owners. Owners you know who you are---share current photos of your handsome dogs if you are so inclined! Love you Bailey, Rigley, Hadie, Rosie, Rufus, Atlas, and Pearl!!! And to you--Yeti and Zöe--you will be forever loved and missed.
Two of my pups. In the front is Bailey about to turn 6 years and behind her is Buster at 10 months old.
Almost 6 years old. Gracie. Celebrating the 4th of July!
Magnificent 10 month Oz.
Nine month old Luna
Two "puppies" from two different litter. On the right is Bailey, almost 7 years old. A Gambol puppy with a sire--Sandman from OR. She resembles Gambol. On the left is Buster, almost 9 months old. He is a Gambol grandson--son of Trick. Sired by Willie in PA. He looks like a darker version of his granddaddy, my dog Kaboom
Eight years old today! Happiest of Birthdays to Gambol's Texas Hold 'Em Litter and the families where these Griffs live.
Happy Birthday—Raiser, Sky, Briley, Kinsler, Gracie, Gabbie, Carlee,JoJo——& Stanley💛
Raiser's boy--Crockett--just got his championship. He and his owner/handler have been incredible in the show ring. Congratulations!
Luna--6 months old. In the Sierra Mountains. I'm not sure if I've ever seen this puppy dry.
These two pretty girls won breed and came in second in sporting dogs—with the pup 4 months old. The puppy is from Trick’s litter. Sparkle—now Phoebe and her 11 year old handler—Anna—make a great team
Pretty Vee at 4 1/2 months winning Group at a puppy show
Buster/Presto--4 1/2 mo old-- from Trick's litter and Bailey--4 years old--from a Gambol litter. So proud of them both!!
Magic/Luna 4 1/2 months old--lives a rough life.

Sam--one of Raiser's puppies-- maybe the hardest working WPG I know. Her one owner is a hunting fool, hunts all over the United States, and Sam is with him. She hunts on land and she retrieves fowl from the water. Her other owner loves Sam's company and cuddles at home. THIS is why they are called versatile hunting dogs.

There is NOTHING like a Griff with a child
Oz has won the favor of his much older sister after a less than perfect beginning
Raiser's boy--Wyatt--is ready for duck season!!
Surprise/Whiskey now has his own cat and family and will be enjoying hunt training with NAVHDA
Sweet, sweet Buster/Presto--now living in Houston with his Cottonwood sister Bailey, has settle in with his human family.
Oh so handsome Oz--living the good life in Colorado
The 'runt' of the Gryffendor Litter--Magic/Luna--moving to San Francisco
Zap--Vee--is becoming a real beauty
Rambler--Pocus--joins his older Cottonwood cousin--Rigley--on a camping trip with their family.

They have arrived! Trick's Dirty Dozen--The Gryffendor Litter. Two weks and doing well.
The Election Day Litter are all learning the joys of swimming--as all Griffs should. Here is Wyatt swimming a LONG way out!
Three week old Griffs are on the world and are barking to let the world know they have arrived!
I find Griffs fascinating when it comes to children--they are like no other dog I've ever seen with a child. This is confirmed by puppy owners--talking about the special relationship their Griffs have with their children--how they have a whole different and more gentle behavior with little ones This video shows Holland--14 weeks-- from the Fall Litter with his Cottonwood brother Briley 2 1/2 yrs and their human sister. Even at 14 weeks Holland is such a gentle boy with his human sister (and I have to give HUGE credit to the mom who has done such a great job with 2 Griffs and a little baby!!!!)
Oh yes---I would say the little Griffs like the ground up dog food with their milk! Turn on your sound and you will----hear
The Fall Litter is AWAKE and getting into all sorts of mischief. One escaped the whelping box this morning. Two weeks old.
Several Cottonwood's Summertime puppies had parties thrown in their today in honor of their first birthday. Here is Rosie's party. This is what a breeder likes to see--a Griff maintaining a mild, loving manner even as her human children come awfully close to her birthday cake! Turn up your sound!!!
Atlas (former Camp of the Summertime litter) has three important jobs at her home. She is a pet, she is being trained to hunt, and she is a companion/therapy dog for her youngest owner who is autistic. The father writes: "Atlas is beneficial for my daughter in many ways. My daughter will wrestle and play with Atlas and she tolerates so much. Most importantly, Atlas is a friend who my daughter can talk to without realizing that she's different. Atlas listens and plays without any judgement. This is something that is important at this stage in life for my daughter and we think will make her more social as she grows." Griffs with children are magical. I have heard from more than one owner who got a puppy for both hunting and for the family--that it is amazing to witness the difference in interaction of a Griff with children and a Griff with an adult. They note how much more gentle and sensitive they are with 'their' children. This obviously plays out wonderfully with an autistic child.
Beautiful 74 degrees and sunny in West Texas. Rattlesnakes still sleeping because it was cold last week (and will be next week). Took the dogs out to the bird lease and they loved every minute--finding quail and jackrabbits.
Atlas (formerly Camp) is showing a love of water and the field, plus an outstanding 'nose' that is just pleasing her new owner no end
Yeti's owner had been told before he got a WPG that they couldn't retrieve. I guess this video verify's what I told him at the time--either the guy that said that didn't know how to train a Griff or didn't know Griffs at all. Not bad for a 12 week old puppy!
Here is 11 week old Atlas (formerly Camp) making her first water entry--and retrieving! Can you say 'water dog'?! Check out that sassy little 5 year old who is learning how to hunt train a Griff! (turn on your sound)
Stanley and one of his owners know excercising a WPG with a bike ride is a great way to condition a Griff and to release some of their boundless energy. Why their demonstration is so impressive is because what other Griff owners know is that their Griffons would probably yank the bike and rider down!
Great way to exercise a WPG--and releasing some of that boundless energy they have. Stanley and one of his owners makes it look simple. Other Griff owners know it is so impressive that Stanley isn't yanking his owner down with his bike, like their Griffs would!
