🐾August is National Immunization Awareness Month! 🐾

Vaccines are one of the easiest ways to protect your pet! Core vaccines are highly recommended by your veterinarian to protect against deadly and life threatening diseases. Non-Core vaccines are elective and recommended based on your pet’s lifestyle to protect against less common diseases.

For Dogs:
🐶 Rabies - Required by law; this protects against a very deadly virus that can be spread to humans.
🐶 DAPP ( Distemper, Adenovirus, Parainfluenza and Parvovirus) - A combo vaccine that protects against highly contagious and life threatening diseases.
🐶 Non-Core Vaccines:
*Bordetella (Kennel Cough) - recommended for any pets that are in frequent contact with other dogs.
*Leptospirosis - A bacterial infection commonly found in wildlife, that can spread to pets & humans; recommended for any pets that are active outdoors.
*Influenza (Respiratory Disease)- recommended for any pets that are in frequent contact with other dogs.

For Cats:
🐱 Rabies: Required by law; this protects against a very deadly virus that can be spread to humans. ✨Essential even for indoor cats, as exposure can still happen!
🐱 FVRCP (Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus and Panleukopenia) - A must have combo vaccine that protects against several severe respiratory and gastrointestinal diseases.
🐱 Non-Core Vaccines:
*FeLV (Feline Leukemia Virus) - Recommended for cats with outdoor access.

🐱💩Fecal Testing FAQ for Dogs & Cats 💩🐶
Ever wonder why your vet recommends checking your pet’s p**p? Here’s everything you need to know!

🐾What is a f***l test?
A f***l test checks your pet’s stool for intestinal parasites like Roundworms, Hookworms, Whipworms and more. These parasites can make pets (and sometimes people!) sick.

🐾How often should my pet be tested?
* Puppies & Kittens; Are more susceptible to these parasites and should be checked more frequently!
* Adult Pets: At least once a year (more if they’re prone to eating things outside!

🐾My pet looks healthy - Do I still need a f***l test?
Yes! Many parasites don’t cause obvious symptoms right away. Regular testing helps catch issues early—before they affect your pet’s health or spread to other pets or people.

🐾Can I skip the test even if I give monthly preventatives?
Preventatives help, but no product covers everything. Testing is still important to be safe and thorough!

🐾What do I need to do for the test?
Just bring a fresh stool sample to your vet—ideally within 12 hours of collection.

🐾Why does this matter?
This helps protect your dog, cat and your family from potentially harmful parasites!

🐾What is a Zoonotic parasite?
Zoonotic parasites are parasites that can be transmitted between animals and people.

☀️ Parasites don’t take a summer break, and neither should prevention! ☀️

Fleas, ticks and heartworms may seem like seasonal nuisances but truth is parasites can affect your pet year-round. That’s why we recommend keeping your pet on prevention all 12 months of the year!

🦟 One mosquito bite can transmit deadly heartworms.

🦟 Fleas can cause severe itching, allergies and tapeworms.

🦟 Ticks can spread diseases like Lyme in just 24 hours.

🦟 Intestinal worms can infect pets and people.

🎆 How to Keep Your Pet Safe This Fourth of July! 🎆

The Fourth of July is a time for celebration—but for our pets, it can be one of the most stressful days of the year. As your trusted veterinary team, we want to help you prepare and keep your furry family members calm and safe during the festivities. 🇺🇸❤️

Here are a few important tips:

🔹 Keep pets indoors – Even if they’re usually outside, bring them in before fireworks start. Scared pets may run away in search of safety.

🔹 Create a calm space – Set up a quiet room with their bed, favorite toys, and soft music or a white noise machine to help mask loud booms.

🔹 Update ID tags & microchips – Just in case your pet gets startled and escapes, make sure their ID tags and microchip info are up-to-date!

🔹 Exercise early – Take your dog for a walk earlier in the day to help reduce energy and anxiety later.

🔹 Avoid party foods & decorations – Many are toxic to pets, especially chocolate, grapes, and anything containing xylitol.

If you have questions or would like to discuss your pet’s anxiety, don’t hesitate to give us a call before the big day! 🎇
