‼️Important Update for all ‼️
Competitors: starting May 1, 2025, a measuring device for nosebands will be mandatory across all FEI disciplines
This new rule requires an approved device to ensure your horse's noseband is fitted properly, prioritizing their comfort during competition. Here's what you need to know:
What is the rule? The noseband must be adjusted with enough laxity, as determined by a FEl-approved measuring device.
How is it tested? The noseband tightness will be controlled using the FEl Measuring Device (as shown in the video). The FEl Steward will gently introduce the device under the noseband from the top, in a downward direction.
What happens if it's too tight? If the noseband is too tight before competition, you won't be allowed to start until it's re-adjusted. If it's too tight during the post-competition tack check, the horse-and-rider combination will be eliminated and the rider will receive a Yellow Warning Card.
When will it be controlled? Pre-competition control can take place before your horse starts warming up or at any time the handler requests. Post-competition control will be conducted during the tack check, before the bit inspection.
This rule applies to all FEI disciplines, not just dressage! The FEI device can be acquired online through the FEl website - now's the time to prepare for upcoming competitions! Make sure your noseband is in check — your horse's well-being comes first
