Offering virtual cat and dog behavior consultations and educational events as well as Lewis County NY area in-person services.

My goal is, quite simply, to help companion animals by educating the humans they interact with. I work with cat and dog owners by providing realistic, tangible advice that best fits their needs and lifestyle. I offer private, one-on-one sessions, day training (where I work with your pet while you are at work!), group classes, and more. I also provide educational services to animal care and control professionals, professionals who encounter animals in their daily work, community groups, or anyone looking for education on animal behavior and training related information.

Looking for an amazing cat??

I met Pip tonight at North Country Pet Adoption Services and was VERY close to taking her home, but she's so suitable to so many other homes, it didn't feel right keeping her for myself. If you're in the northern NY area and looking for a great dog with a lovely temperament, scoop this little nugget up ASAP!! She's very special 😍

Pip is little enough to fit into just about any home, cute enough to get away with things she probably shouldn't, and equipped with ears that can hear a cheese wrapper opening in the next county.

She arrives on Sunday and needs a foster or adopter. She's under 30 #, good with other dogs, and wants to play with cats.

❤️ Can you give Pip a place to land? No, really, she's arriving by plane.

Apply to foster or adopt through North Country Pet Adoption Services!

PSA on cats and collars.

1. Cats can be strangled when collars catch on things. Please use a break away safety collar.
2. Test the "safety collar" to ensure it actually comes off easily. The lighter/smaller the cat, the easier the collar must break apart. Otherwise it isn't any safer.
3. Fit the collar snug but not tight. If it's too loose a front arm can get caught in it.
4. Never put a collar on like a cross body purse.

I lured this skinny, flea covered girl in bc of her incredible desperation for food.

Whoever put on the collar likely meant well, but it caused incredible pain and could have killed her. I could barely break the collar apart, so this tiny thing had no chance. The collar slowly sliced through her flesh, limiting her ability to groom, feed or defend herself.

I'll spare you the graphic pics.

Please donate to North Country Pet Adoption Services toward "Juniper's" care!! They have stepped up to take care of her. She'll likely need at least stitches, antibiotics, wound care! https://share.google/7mdtAXvF6Zz8s6HjD

Trouble getting a better picture of Michelle OBrahma, my other new chicken, by herself but she's nuts and rarely stands still!

Strong, beautiful, and hilarious, though not nearly as poised as her namesake Michelle Obama

You've previously met Nelly Bly, the gold laced Wyandotte.

Nelly Bly was the pen name of Elizabeth Jane Cochran; (1864 – 1922) an American journalist who went undercover, working at a factory to expose the conditions that women and children faced. She also got herself committed to work undercover writing about the horrors of mental institutions. Oh and she also completed a record-breaking trip around the world in 72 days in emulation of Jules Verne's story. She's another pioneer for women that we never learned about.

Also a spunky chicken who likes to perch on my shoulder at dusk!

Finally getting around to introducing Pearl Rivers, the lavender orphington.

Pearl Rivers was the pen name of Eliza Jane Poitevent Holbrook Nicholson, 1843–1896). She was a pioneering American journalist, poet, and writer who became the first woman in the US to own and operate a major daily newspaper. She saved the nearly bankrupt paper she'd inherited when her first husband passed, she upset the norms of women in high society, and revolutionized the content of contemporary newspapers. She was a champion of women's rights and is someone we should all know about.

She's also a lovely and sweet chicken 😍

I've had a few group classes and continue to forget to post pics. Honestly I try to avoid social media.

But here are some of my current students: adoptable tan Basko (available through North Country Pet Adoption Services), little mini Aussie Kali, chocolate lab Georgie, and white and tan Lena! Group classes are held at Double Play Community Center .
