When Selecting a breeder, are you asking what they are intentionally doing to help develop a resilient nervous system in your kittens?
And what I mean by that is what are you as a breeder doing to develop a socialized kitten? Are they doing what is needed to desensitize the babies to the world around them so when they go into a new environment, they are not stressed but can easily transition.
The foundation is built in the first 12 weeks of a kittens life, this is one reason we don’t send kittens home at 8 weeks. Confidence isn’t just a happy accident, all of my kittens should not be scared easily if they are handled and trained to not fear the world around them. It’s much easier to nurture confidence then it is to try to earn trust and build from there. Maine c***s are naturally more social, so teaching them to love with their big heart comes easier.
