Muddy Boot Farm is just a little over a mile off of Route 287 in Lovettsville, VA. MBF is a small, private facility with a tack area, feed room, 10 x 10 stalls, and an outdoor riding arena. Boarding options include stall board with twice daily feeding and daily or nightly turnout (depending on the season) OR field board with once or twice daily feeding. Natural Horsemanship ground lessons are also available. Message for more info.

Free composted horse manure. Contents are horse waste, pine shavings, hay, and wood pellets.

No smell and great fertilizer for a home garden!

There's a tractor on the property that we can use to load trucks or trailers. Smaller containers welcome but you'll have to load your own. Message me to set up a time.

Will deliver by the truck load within 10 miles for a small fee.

Our sick Isa Brown made it through her crop surgery last night! This is only the second time I have ever had to open up and flush an impacted and sour crop (it is ALWAYS a last-ditch effort when none of the other treatments are working). It is one is the worst smells I have ever experienced and I had to turn my head and block my nose with my arm a few times while I was working on her.

She survived the night and actually ate a little of her food this morning— very soft, very well-soaked chick food— and is now having a supervised stroll around the backyard. There is really nothing better for a chicken than to go outside and do chicken stuff. :-)

This is one tough bird, who previously did not have a name— but she has certainly earned one! Well done, Percy. ♥️

A later night with Mel’s abscess (pictured with his matching fly mask, muzzle and Cinderella slipper) and Clifford’s swollen eye (and his excellent fashion choices). Everyone is fine, but we were definitely cutting into Vinny’s beauty sleep.

Now, off to treat a chicken with an impacted crop… 🤪

We have a couple of full-care field board openings for low-key geldings (or a mare if she’s good with a barn full of boys 😂)!

Muddy Boot Farm is a small, 10-acre private boarding facility that is family-owned and drama free. We specialize in aged and retired horses, but we do have a small outdoor arena and some trail ride out. While we may not be fancy, we offer excellent care and have several references (including veterinarians and former boarders).

All field board includes a run-in shelter (most fields actually have 2), twice daily grain including owner-provided supplements, hay as needed (our current field boarders have a round bale, which is provided if there is not ample forage otherwise), blanketing, fly masks/spray, etc as needed in the season.

ISO part time evening barn help. 2 to 3 times per week.

Small family farm in Lovettsville, VA. 9-10 horses, 6 stalls total. Very low-key farm with well-behaved horses (many of them seniors).

Cleaning stalls, filling water and hay. Bringing horses in or turning out and feeding. Takes appox. 1.5 hrs, slightly more in the winter and slightly less in the summer, total between stalls and feeds. Some experience preferred.

Anytime we lose one of our horses, Chris makes a sign out of horseshoes to hang on our fence. Tonight, we noticed that our "Moe" sign is missing. It was relatively heavy (being made of metal horseshoes), so it didn't blow away.

It says "MOE" spray painted purple with a red heart underneath of it, with hooks on the back so it can be hung over a fenceboard. If it was stolen and someone happens to see it somewhere, please let us know. It has a lot of sentimental meaning to us and we'd really like to have it back.

Our Mille Fleur D'Uccle Booted Bantam hen, Butterfly, is hatching her babies today! She is so sneaky about finding places to hide and hatch. We will have to rehome them, as we have a lot of chickens as it is. They sure are cute!
