My husband and I rescue horses that need a safe forever landing. Some have come from severe starvation and neglect, some from deceased owners, a few from other rescues that weren't very adoptable or very difficult to place, 2 from a feedlot back east. Every horse and pony here is very special and treated as such. We provide these souls with safety, care, love, respect and dignity. When it is time for them to cross Rainbow Bridge to greener pastures, we humanely help them with that journey. We started in Mojave Ca, moved to Apple Valley Ca, then bought 40 acres here in Lovelock Nevada. It was quite an endeavour moving all the horses! But we did it, and with very special thanks and love to an Angel that helped with hauling most of the horses (you know who you are 😉💖) Many of the horses we care for are seniors. 💖 We live offgrid, with a couple of solar panels and batteries, we haul in our own water (well is extremely expensive), we haul our own hay, we do pretty much everything ourselves. It's been an adventure! We have started the process of building our house, this will be done by us as well😉 We both have Lyme Disease and John is a paraplegic due to a drunk driver 21 years ago, but that doesnt slow him down! I sustained a life-changing injury at work in 2010, which was finally settled in 2017 and enabled us to purchase this property and move most everything. Thank you to 2 wonderful women that also helped with moving sheep and horses!💗💗You guys Rock! We are planning on filing for 501c3 status, but need to save the fees to do so. (500) Until then we do have our ein, and paperwork is ready to file. Since we are not tax exempt yet we file all donations as income, and thus pay taxes on it at the end of each year. We have also discussed with the local animal control in regards to being a rescue/shelter for large animals in the county. We are growing non gmo heirloom corn (mostly Navajo and Hopi), squash, peas, tomatoes, carrots etc. Our plan is to eventually grow enough to feed us and to offer seeds to the public in an effort to help sustain the sanctuary. Also a business plan in the works 😉 Every day is new, every day is busy, we take every day as a new opportunity to learn, grow, and discover 😊 There is beauty and wonder in everything around, it just take looking💗 This picture was the first day we started moving horses to the property🌈 paypal.me/BlueFeatherSanctuary
