People often ask us what the difference is between a Timneh African Grey and a Congo African Grey. Here is a great side by side comparison. The TIMNEH is on the left, the CONGO is on the right.
Timneh African Greys are smaller, they have a dark grey body, dark feet, and a dark burgundy tail.
Congo African Greys are larger, they have a light grey body, light grey feet and a very distinct, bright red tail.
Both have outstanding talking/mimicking abilities, both can make wonderful companions.
Both the Timneh and Congo are extremely intelligent species. They will be successful in a home that offers activities, attention, structured training and interactive caging. These incredible species offer much more than "a talking bird".

❌PLEASE DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME❌ We are trained professionals in hand feeding baby parrots. If not done properly, you can easily aspirate a parrot which can lead to the unfortunate death of the baby bird , !With that being said, this is how we make all of our babies so friendly and social!Hand feeding birds allows them to trust us and become accustomed to our hands from the very beginning of their lives.

Education is so important when it comes to getting a parrot. It is just as important to help the feather baby discover the new family as providing guidance on bird care to them. Familiar things such as training perches, harness, clicker and target stick all help the baby feel at home. And positive reinforcement based training offers a common language which can be used by the new family and help the bird settle in.

People often get frustrated with their flocks 100%. I honestly don’t know of a single person whose animals didn’t upset them at one point or another. You can’t always control that they make us upset, but you can control your emotions, which means staying calm and not over reacting because tension is building. If you can’t, just walk outside the house till you’re clear headed again. I’ve done it, I’m not afraid to say it. I’ve put birds back and sat outside for a hour or two. I did it so my birds weren’t affected. I worked on calming myself down and came back with a better attitude.

But it’s always important to digest the behavior that made you frustrated and formulate a plan or contact a trainer to be able to train or change so it doesn’t happen to you again. It will become a vicious cycle that will continue to create frustrated associations towards each other and then you have a much more serious problem.

How does this correlate to behavior? It does! Because the energy YOU bring to the table, they will MATCH or REACT. Before you open that cage, You wtake a deep breath and set the tone. If They come in unconfident, a lot of birds will pick it up and usually increased aggression happens. If you tense, they will be too and likely to be more alert or possibly even aggressive.

When You interact with any animal(s), You should always want to be as calm as possible. You want things to remain fun and positive for them and for you both. You don’t want to bring your frustrations into their areas. That stays outside the house.
