“I would like to give a big shout out and personally thank Mandy Lawson Blankenship for the work she did on Breeze. Mandy is an Equine Massage Therapist, who I truly believe has put Breeze on a positive path. As I’ve stated in previous posts, Breeze has been on “medical leave” since June of ‘22 due to on and off lameness with no official reasons or diagnosis’s. He has had extensive blood work done, multiple vet exams, total revamping of his feed/supplements and still no rhyme or reason for his random lameness’s that are gone within an hour. So, I decided to give him time off and just be a horse. That all changed within a blink of an eye when I had to say goodbye to Alphie. I decided to go big or go home at Black Sheep Boogie and rode the 50 mile endurance ride. What a success it was!!
Mandy was gracious enough to accept my plea to see Breeze Friday night. Words cannot describe how pleased I am with what she did. After she worked on Breeze for about 15 minutes she asked about any injuries and proceeded to ask if his lameness was in the right hind leg. His only injury was when he was 3 and he slammed into a fence going mock 9 and was trapped under the fence. Mandy didn’t know the details of the injury, but did know that his chest had been slammed in some way all by using her hands and knowledge of how a horse should “feel”. I was amazed at how I could visually see his demeanor changing before my eyes, how he was relaxing, and releasing years of tension(that I had no clue was even there). Breeze is very stoic and tough as nails, so to see him physically change was amazing. As she worked on him, I could see him relaxing more and more with the tension leaving his body. When she finished she told me to walk him around for about 15 minutes. Now, any one who knows Breeze or has been around him knows that he walks with intention, always on a mission both on and off of him. Well……we actually strolled around for those 15 minutes!! His head was low, his walk was just laid back without a care in the world. Amazing and not typical. During the ride he shook his whole body a minimum of 5 times, not typical at all. He’s not a “hot” horse, always controllable, and glides down the trail with ease. However, There was something different about him on ride day…..he was very relaxed and just seemed happier. I truly believe Mandy has helped Breeze release tension(that’s what I’m calling it) that I never knew was there. When I look him in the eyes, there’s a softness that was not there before. Only horse may understand what I mean. Now……I have to sweet talk Mandy into making Breeze a regular.❤️😎”
