Gramma, the San Diego Zoo's beloved Galapagos tortoise and its oldest resident, has passed away at the estimated age of 141. To think, she was already 14 years old when the Philippines declared its independence in 1898.

She arrived at the zoo nearly a century ago, a living relic from another time. As we say rest in paradise, Gramma, we're grateful for the profound perspective she offered on history, longevity, and the quiet passage of time.

ITS TURTLE TUESDAY!!

Tonight we will be introducing a very special turtle named tori. I bought my first redfooted tortoise from a very reputable breeder a few years back! He sent me a dead turtle.

Then sent me Tori to apologize. Tori came to us very weak and suffering from shellrot. I wasn't very happy with my purchase but it did push me further towards my path I am on now.

A few vet check ups later some special cream a a few weeks in a hospital set up he was good as new and thriving!

He's got such a personality on him you'd think he was about 10 times his size. He's a very sweet and gentle loving guy and were over the moon he's part of our crew. 🫶

ITS TURTLE TUESDAY!! 😘🫶🐢

Last week we introduced our big guy Derek so this week its only right to bring out his best buddy and partner in crime, RODNEY! 🥰💚

These two are always into something, constantly checking the premises and all other turtles.

Rodney is the biggest sleeper, and his second favorite thing to do is eat anything and everything. 🤣🤣

If you can see one the other is not far behind.
They are brothers and just two peas in a pod. Our first tortoises!
