🐾 Consistency Is the Key to Training Success

One of the biggest factors in a dog’s training progress isn’t the training method, it’s consistency. Dogs learn through repetition and clear expectations. When rules change from day to day or family member to family member, it can create confusion and slow down progress.

If your dog isn’t allowed on the couch one day but is invited up the next, or is expected to sit before going outside sometimes but not others, they receive mixed messages about what is expected of them.

Successful training happens when everyone in the household follows the same rules, uses the same commands, and rewards the same behaviors. Small, consistent efforts each day will always outperform occasional long training sessions.

Remember: Dogs thrive on clarity. The more consistent you are, the faster your dog can learn and succeed.

These puppers are practicing consistency by staying on their beds even during a heavy traffic area, and listening to the trainer telling them to stay put.

☀️ Summer Safety Tips for Your Dog ☀️

As temperatures rise, it’s important to remember that our dogs can overheat much faster than we do.

A few things to keep in mind this summer:

🐾 Check the pavement before walks. If it’s too hot for your hand, it’s too hot for your dog’s paws.

💧 Always provide access to fresh water and encourage frequent breaks during outdoor activities.

🌳 Seek shade whenever possible, especially during the hottest parts of the day.

⚠️ Know the signs of heat exhaustion:
• Excessive panting
• Drooling
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting
• Difficulty walking

The safest times for walks and exercise are usually early in the morning or later in the evening when temperatures are lower.

A little extra caution can help ensure your dog enjoys a safe and fun summer season!

🐾 New Dog Owner? Here Are 3 Tips For Success 🐾

1️⃣ Socialize – Proper socialization is one of the most important things you can do for your dog. Help them build positive associations with new people, places, sounds, and experiences so they can confidently navigate the world around them.

2️⃣ Exercise – A tired dog is often a better-behaved dog. Physical exercise and mental stimulation can significantly reduce unwanted behaviors and help your dog live a more balanced life.

3️⃣ Train – Obedience is the foundation of communication between you and your dog. The sooner you start training, the easier it is to build good habits and create a strong relationship based on trust and understanding.

The best time to start training your dog was yesterday. The second-best time is today

The whole crew enjoyed a day in the sun today. ☀️🐾

Training is important, but so is taking a break. Dogs need time to decompress, relax, and just enjoy being dogs. A balanced training program isn’t constant pressure, it’s knowing when to work and when to let them have fun.

Today was all about soaking up the sunshine, stretching their legs, and enjoying some well earned downtime. 🖤

Big day for Holmes! 🐾

We started the day with a bath and blowout at Feeders Supply, then headed to Waterfront Park to work on public exposure, neutrality, and manners around all the wild kids running around. 😅

Outings like this are so important for dogs like Holmes. Training isn’t just about commands, it’s about learning how to exist calmly and confidently in the real world. Proud of this boy and the progress he’s making! 🖤

Less than 24 hours can make a huge difference when a dog feels safe, understood, and listened to. 🐾

Yesterday, this Aussie was stiff, growling, and unsure about human interaction. Today, they’re calmly accepting pets and and taking food by hand from their trainer — a great example of how trust is built through patience, clear communication, and respecting a dog’s boundaries instead of forcing compliance.

Relationship first. Training second. That’s where real progress starts.

Even the sweetest dogs can say “I’m uncomfortable” in ways people miss. This Australian Shepherd is showing clear signs of stress and defensiveness during leash handling — stiff body posture, hard staring, and growling are all distance-increasing behaviors meant to communicate discomfort, fear, or lack of trust. Herding breeds like Australian Shepherds are also highly sensitive and can become reactive when they feel pressured or uncertain.

The good news: growling is communication, not “bad behavior.” Listening to those warnings helps prevent bites and builds safer training plans. This pup is currently boarding with one of our trainers, where we’ll focus on trust-building, handling confidence, and clear communication to help them feel more secure around people and everyday routines.

Holmes went on his first real public outing and earned the privilege of having his muzzle come off 👏🐾 Big step for this boy and a huge sign of progress. We’re starting to see more confidence, better decision making, and a dog that’s learning how to exist calmly in the world around him. Proud of you, Holmes 💪

Meet Penny! 🐾

Penny is here for our 4 week behavioral board & train program. She has a long history of biting due to struggles with spatial pressure and handling, so over the next month we’ll be focusing on building confidence, communication, and safer responses to the world around her.

Her program will include:
• Handling drills
• Muzzle conditioning
• Place work
• Reliable recall
• Structured obedience & confidence building

Our goal is to help Penny become safer, more manageable, and ready to return home to the two little kids who absolutely adore her. We’re excited to help this girl make a fresh start. 🤍
