LOOK WHAT I BUILT TODAY!
Sorry I haven’t been very responsive guys!!!we’ve been putting in 12hr days for a little over a week at the most beautiful …absolute dream of a rehab/redo/complete redesign …….when all is said and done; theres going to be 7 waterfalls, all of which include individual custom designs tailored specifically for sun exposure, viewing, and sound experience!
I do this in order to maximize water sound, circulation, excellent water quality, & overall experience for the client!

With each waterfall I design and create I always include custom cement sculpting (yes sculpting - I’m an artist- I don’t use cement like normal people lol) in order to let the water do its thing!
to its full potential!
Meaning: I listen to the water & sculpt cement in order to direct water where it wants to go….(without looking like I had any hand in creating it! )
“is that a rock or did she make that one?”
You’ll never know!

My style?
If it looks like your water feature has been there for a thousand years; I’ve done my job!
So
THIS oasis includes 5-ish ponds/aquatic planting areas (the entire area you can see in the photo is actually a bog filter!)
All of These cascade down into each other, then waterfall into the main pond at the bottom (which in the photo is empty & approximately 7000gallons) I also included creek systems, a butcher block style custom bridge(soon), a stone boulder island, gazing pools, wildlife retreats/breeding areas, tons of native plants/perennials that pollinators love ……and obviously tons of GORGEOUS boulders/rock!!!!! My favs are the moss rocks & the blue boulders!!

Ok so I’m SLOWLY coming around to this whole chat gpt thing;
(Not for pond info; never trust it for that….please just ask me)
But from a creative standpoint? This is SO GREAT! Context: A new client of mine and I were brainstorming about how he could add a bog filter to his existing (as he called it )micro pond of 50 gallons.
I’m a very visual person and therefore I tend to do best with “show” rather than “tell”
Meaning I draw out most of my concept ideas crudely on my phone in order to show clients MY visions of what IM seeing when I look at THEIR spaces.
in this specific instance, I drew (with my finger) a drawing on my iPhone w Snapchat; then uploaded my finger painting to chat gpt; told it what it to do overall; then I gave it specifics: what I wanted the plant choices to be, waterfall design (spill style), flow rate, and color of the container……… it then produced it! Mind blown…..like daily with this app. This is actually a fun creative tool so people can see the vision I’ve created in a more realistic format! Who knew? Love this for both myself, and my clients!

It’s pond cleaning/rehab season!!!!!
What do we charge?
$125/hr/person
Typically we use 2-3 people and it takes us 3-5+hrs depending on pond size/level of cleaning
We pride ourselves on being extremely thorough-You will have a crystal clear healthy pond with healthy happy fish by the time we’re finished!
Rehabs do take longer, and those require in person consultations
but the same rates apply
In person consultations available for $130 due at time of booking

YOU DONT HAVE TO CHOOSE!
You can an HAVE BOTH!
your waterfalls/aerators(bubblers) make the surface of your koi pond too turbulent to see your fish clearly, and thats KIND of the point, right? RIGHT!!
YOU CAN TRAP THE TURBULENCE AND BUBBLES!
Here’s a super simple DIY life hack! Place a hula hoop around your bubbler! They float! We have ours secured in tht spot by tying a string to the hoop and anchoring it under a rock on yhe border of our pond!(you can spray paint it black (so it’s not an ugly eye-sore like ours currently is),
and to stop the waterfall ripples, simply place a board at the base of the your falls on the water surface! Easy peasy! Check it out in the video of our koi pond! It’s a super windy day here in Louisville, and sadly there’s no way to stop THAT, but other than that- look how calm the water is!

Overwintering tropical marginal pond plants (elephant ear, papyrus, etc) Yes it is possible heres how:
I pull them out right before frost/freeze time
fill a planter or container(aesthetically pleasing of course) withZETO DRAINAGE HOLES with mud from outside,plant them in that, fill with water, so the mud is covered like 2-4” with water and put the planter right in front of a window in your house with the most sun (it needs to “see” out the window) just keep the container full of water they THRIVE.
And then come spring plant them again! I did that with this one last winter (chicken for scale)

🚨 Reminder for Koi Keepers as Winter Approaches 🚨

Every year the same bad advice gets recycled: “Stop feeding your koi in the fall or the food will rot in their gut and kill them.”

That’s a myth and it’s costing people fish.

Here’s the truth:

• Koi don’t suddenly lose the ability to digest food when the water cools. Their metabolism slows, yes but it doesn’t stop.

• When you stop feeding too early, you rob your koi of the energy reserves they need to make it through winter.

• The real danger isn’t fall feeding — it’s spring stress. Fish weakened by months of undernourishment are the first to crash when parasites and bacteria wake up.

I’ve seen it too many times: koi starved all winter, then dead in March or April. Not because they were “fed in cold water” — but because they weren’t fed at all.

Feed appropriately for the temperature, use a quality food, and give them what they need to carry their weight through winter.

Your koi are more likely to die in the spring from being underfed in the fall than from any food you responsibly give them now.

Stop following myths. Start following biology. Feed your koi.
