Metro Animal Services ( ) receives over 7,000 animals annually. Thousands of pets are turned as strays or confiscated s cruelty, neglect, abandonment, and/or abuse. We are unable to assist in owned animal surrenders without an appointment. Metro Animal Services' adoption services are operated out of its Animal House Adoption Center, 3516 Newburg Rd, which is open 7 days a week noon-

6pm, 7pm on Fridays. All animals available for adoption have been spayed/neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, up-to-date on flea/tick/heartworm preventions and licensed through Jefferson County. These pets are ready for a same-day adoption!

See a pet that is on a stray hold, and you are interested in adopting him/her? You can reserve that pet for a $50 non-refundable fee. Reservations are on a first come, first serve basis and can only be done in person, at Animal House.

Arcadia went on a field trip, he is a hidden gem! 💎

I had my husband randomly pick a dog from the website, and I'm so glad we chose Arcadia. He is thick and chonky and sweet as can be.

We gave Arcadia a bath at Feeder's and he sat in the tub like an angel. I think he liked the attention and the ear cleaning. He seems to prefer pets and physical attention over toys and snacks.

We met 2 dogs on leash while out and he had positive interactions. He was also interested in the shop cat.

Arcadia was friendly with everyone we met at Feeders Supply and Home Depot. He also seems potty trained and didn't mark anything.

We ended the day at a family member's house for some quiet time. He and my husband both took a nap. 😴

This boy has the sweetest face and one ear flops around however it wants. Arcadia is a big love bug with a good mix of fun and chill vibes. 🩵

Arcadia is a neutered adult male. His adoption fee is sponsored and includes his neuter, microchip and vaccines. He’s ready to leave today! Come meet him.

Nothing better than LEMONADE on a hot Saturday! 🍋🍋🍋

Lemonade went on a Field trip with volunteer Shelby, who had nothing but good things to say about her.
She's so pretty and sweet.
Seems like a cuddle, lover girl.
Was excited to play with other dogs. Website says she's a playgroup superstar.
She just laid in the back seat and chilled the whole time until we arrived at the park. She even laid down while an older man talked to me for a long while.
Tried to give her treats and ice cream she said she was too hot.
She's such a cute girl. Pictures to prove it.

Lemonade is just here waiting at the shelter for an adopter. Come by and meet her. 🩵🍋

Adoptable Emily Bronte had a marvelous time with her temporary foster. She got to play (and play and play) with their dog and is now child approved as well. She has obtained the holy trifecta; kid approved, dog approved and cat approved! Before heading home, she helped me shop at Home Depot and she enjoyed a Pup Cup at Steak and Shake.

Meet Christopher Robin, one of the most resilient cats at .
After being hit by a car, Christopher Robin arrived with a broken pelvis, severe leg wounds, and paralysis in his hind legs. What followed was months of surgeries, setbacks, and recovery. Along the way, veterinarians discovered additional complications, including a hernia that had displaced his stomach and spleen into his chest cavity.
Through it all, Christopher Robin never stopped fighting.
It truly took a village to get him here. Thanks to the incredible veterinary staff at the shelter, Jefferson Animal Hospital, Alley Cat Advocates, and the endless love and care of his foster mom, Christopher Robin has made an amazing recovery and is finally ready to find his very own Hundred Acre Wood.
His foster mom says:
"Throughout his ordeal, Christopher Robin has shown remarkable resilience. He is extremely sociable and affectionate. He loves sitting in my lap while I'm on the computer and sleeping next to me at night."

Christopher Robin has already beaten the odds. Now all he needs is a family to write the next chapter of his story. Could that be you? ❤️🐱

We have a solution, meet Bear an adult neutered male dog (not an actual Bear, sorry). Bear weighs about 60lbs and is ready to go home today. 🩵

Bear is friend shaped, loves snacks and is just an all around friendly, nice guy. Bear came in with another dog, so he’s likely dog friendly. He also shows signs of being potty trained. 🙌🏼

Apple Watch could use a leg out. She seems very potty trained and is trying to hold it as long as possible. That’s great right? However without regular potty breaks, she is struggling in a shelter environment. Almost every photo I have while walking is just her using the restroom. 💔

Apple Watch is an adult female who weighs about 65lbs. Her adoption fee is sponsored. She will come spayed, microchipped and vaccinated. She seems laid back. 🩵
